Team Qatar wrestlers start Arab Championship Campaign in Style with Double Gold and Silver

Alexandria - The Arab Wrestling Championship officially commenced on Tuedady in Alexandria, Egypt , featuring the elite athletes of Qatar’s national Greco-Roman wrestling team. This participation forms part of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation’s strategic plan to prepare athletes for upcoming competitions and international events.

From the very start, Team Qatar champions showcased exceptional performances across all weight categories, asserting their dominance on the Arab stage. In the 82 kg category, Shahin Mohammed claimed the gold medal after defeating the Iraqi champion 0:8, followed by a victory over the Egyptian and African champion 1:11, delivering a historic performance that highlighted his remarkable skills.

Arif Hussein also shone brightly in the 63 kg category, securing gold with a commanding 2:8 win over the Saudi athlete, and later defeating the Egyptian competitor 1:3, cementing his status among the top contenders in his weight class.

In the 65 kg division, Ali Al-Mutawa demonstrated tremendous determination and resilience, earning the silver medal after a strong performance in the freestyle matches, adding another milestone to Qatar’s wrestling legacy.

This outstanding achievement reflects the professional preparation and high caliber of team Qatar athletes, reinforcing their leadership in Arab Greco-Roman wrestling and providing the national team with a significant confidence boost ahead of the forthcoming rounds and competitions.
