AICHI-NAGOYA, Japan – Qatar’s beach volleyball pair Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan continued their impressive campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, defeating Iran 2-0 (22-20, 21-13) to secure their place in the semi-finals.Competing as Qatar 1, the Qatari duo produced a composed and determined performance to overcome a resilient Iranian side and book a semi-final showdown with Thailand today.Younousse and Tijan made a confident start, displaying excellent concentration and maintaining their composure as Iran fought hard to remain within touching distance. The opening set was closely contested, with the lead changing hands several times before the Qatari pair edged ahead to take it 22-20.Qatar raised the tempo in the second set, combining disciplined defence, effective attacking play and strong court awareness. Drawing on their experience and well-established understanding, Younousse and Tijan gradually opened up a decisive advantage before closing out the set 21-13 to complete a convincing straight-sets victory.

AICHI-NAGOYA, Japan – Qatar’s national padel team, represented by Rashid Nawaf and Mishari Nawaf, advanced to the quarter-finals of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 after defeating Kuwait 2-0 in their Round of 16 clash yesterday.The Qatari duo produced a commanding performance, dominating the match from the outset and securing a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory to book their place in the last eight.Rashid and Mishari Nawaf displayed excellent coordination, composure and attacking quality throughout the encounter, giving Kuwait little opportunity to mount a comeback as they completed a comfortable straight-sets victory.
Qatar Delegation Honours Team Qatar’s Asian Games Medallists
Nagoya - The Qatar delegation participating in the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 celebrated Team Qatar athletes who won medals over the past two days, in recognition of their achievements at the Games.The celebration, held at Bayt Qatar in Nagoya, honoured Team Qatar weightlifter Ouissal Ikhlef, the Qatar national handball team and the shooting medallists from the men’s team trap and mixed trap events.The celebration was attended by H.E. Mohammed bin Yousef Al-Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, alongside a number of QOC officials and members of the Qatar delegation.
Qatar Shooting Continues to Shine at Asian Games
AICHI-NAGOYA, Japan – Team Qatar continued its impressive medal-winning campaign at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 as Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Ray Bassil secured the silver medal in the mixed trap event on Tuesday.The Qatari pair delivered a strong performance, hitting 32 targets to finish second and add another medal to Qatar’s impressive shooting haul at the Games.India’s Kynan Chenai and Neeru claimed the gold medal after topping the competition with 34 targets, while China’s Qi Ying and Sun Yunong took bronze with 24 targets.Al-Rumaihi and Bassil’s silver brought Qatar’s shooting medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 to four medals – two gold and two silver.Qatar’s medal-winning campaign in shooting began with Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah, Rashid Saleh Al-Athba and Ali Ahmed Al-Ishaq securing gold in the men’s team skeet event.Al-Athba then added individual skeet gold to Qatar’s tally, setting a new Asian record in the process, before Al-Rumaihi, Saeed Hamad Abu Sharib and Angelo Scalzone claimed silver in the men’s team trap event.With the latest shooting medal, Team Qatar’s overall tally at the Games rose to 13 medals – three gold, six silver and four bronze.Shooting competition at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 concludes today with the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event, in which Qatar will be represented by Mohammed Nasser Al-Yafei.

NAGOYA, Japan – Qatar’s national handball team claimed the silver medal at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, after suffering a narrow 33-32 defeat to Bahrain in the final of the men’s handball competition on Tuesday.The result saw Bahrain capture the Asian Games handball gold medal for the first time, while Qatar settled for silver after winning the title at the previous three editions , Incheon 2014, Jakarta 2018 and Hangzhou 2022.The final was a fiercely contested and thrilling encounter from start to finish, with Bahrain eventually prevailing by a single goal after capitalizing on a number of unforced errors by the Qatari players that proved costly.

NAGOYA, Japan – Team Qatar’s Abubaker Abdalla secured the bronze medal in the men’s 800m at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, after delivering an impressive performance in Japan.|Abdalla crossed the finish line in 1:45.25, setting a new personal best and earning a place on the Asian Games podium.His Team Qatar teammate Hatem Hameed also produced a strong performance, finishing sixth in 1:46.41.
