PSA 2 QSF Satellite 2024 concludes
The competitions of PSA 2 QSF Satellite 2024 Tournament were concluded at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex yesterday.
Pakistan’s Waleed Zaman claimed the title after beating Qatar's Salem Al Malki 11-6 11-5 11-9 in the final match.
The crowning ceremony was attended by Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation Tareq Zainal and Tournament Director Saad Al Mohannadi.
Al Mohannadi congratulated the winners and lauded the technical level of the event.
“It is an important tournament for our young squash players as it provides them with opportunity to gain more ranking points" he said.
Al Mohannadi also stressed that the federation is keen to organize this type of events to promote squash in the state of Qatar and help national teams players participate in international tournaments.
Padel competition of QOC Ramadan Tournament kicks off
DOHA – The preliminary Men’s Padel competitions got underway on Sunday as a last major sport discipline of the QOC Ramadan Tournament 2024 , which is running from 17th to 26th of March at the Lusail Shooting Range.
In strong opening game , the duo Omar Waleed Al Hammadi & Mohammed Waleed Al Hammadi edged out the duo Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Thani & Salem Abdulhaleem Ali 9-0, while in the second game, the duo Salah Awad Al-Sinaidi & Fahad Hussain Al-Breik defeated their opponents, Ghanim Salman Al-Naemi & Khalid Abdalla Al Sulaiti 9-0.
In the third game, Ahmed Al-Naemi & Abdulaziz Al-Subaie got better of Bahir Ziyad Al-Ashmaawi & Mohammed Ali Al Kuwari 9-0, while Adel Mohamed Al-Hashimi and Saud Adel Al-Hashimi defeated Kamal Abdulazeem Mohammed & Ayad Kamal Mohammed 9-0 in the fourth game.
In statement on Sunday, Mr. Salah Al Saadi, Assistant Director of the QOC Sports Events Department said we are truly happy to have a duo of employee + family member in the men’s padel competitions for the first time in the history of QOC Ramadan Tournaments. This sport has became more popular in Qatari community over the recent years.
“ Bringing employee + family member together in this event comes in line with QOC’s strategy to boost productive relation between sons and parents in the sport and community tournaments” said Mr. Al Saadi.
“ This initiative represents a true sport investment on the skills of generations to come” added Mr. Al Saadi.
The QOC Ramadan Tournament returns back with several values to employees by building up better social relations out of work environment, help improving public health and preserving physical fitness for all during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Lopez optimistic ahead of Kuwait clash
Doha: The Qatari national football team concluded Sunday their preparations in Doha ahead of their match against Kuwaiti on Tuesday at the Ali Sabah Al Salem Stadium, as part of the fourth round of the joint qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
The Qatari national team lead the group with 9 points after defeating Kuwait 3-0, Afghanistan 8-1 in Doha, and India 3-0 away.
The Qatari team had their final training session on Sunday under the leadership of the Spanish coach Bartolome Marquez Lopez before heading to Kuwait on Monday.
The coaching staff of the Qatari team focused on tactical aspects and strategic plans during the training sessions, with all players present except for midfielder Abdulaziz Hatem, who will be sidelined for about six weeks due to injury.
The Qatari national team coach acknowledges the difficulty of the match against Kuwait, given the latter's desire to make up for the loss on home soil. However, he reaffirmed his team's commitment to continue working towards achieving more victories.
The Asian Cup champions will conclude their preparations for the match with a training session on Monday at the match venue in the Kuwaiti capital.
Sport Events & Procurement advance to Beach Volleyball Final at QOC Ramadan Tournament
DOHA – Sport events and procurement teams were victorious on Saturday to reach the final game of Beach Volleyball event of the QOC Ramadan Tournament 2024 , which is running from 17th to 26th of March at the Lusail Shooting Range.
The QOC beach volleyball semifinals games on Saturday was attended by H.E. Second Vice-President of QOC , Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al-Thani, the QOC’s Director of Sport Sector and number of QOC officials and employees.
In Saturday’s first semifinals game, Sport Events team got better of Secretariat - General Office 2-0, while Procurement team edged out President Office 2-0. The finalists will play for title clash on Tuesday.
After a decisive game for third and fourth places held later on Saturday, President Office recorded a 2-0 victory over Secretariat - General Office to secure a place on beach volleyball podium on Tuesday.
The Padel Event-Doubles (Men) will start with four games on Sunday, where the duo Omar Waleed Al Hammadi & Mohammed Waleed Al Hammadi will face the duo Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Thani & Salem Abdulhaleem Ali in the opening game, while the duo Ghanim Salman Al-Naemi & Khalid Abdulla Al Sulaiti will take on the duo Salah Awad Al-Sinaidi & Fahad Hussain Al-Breik.

This QOC Ramadan Tournament is seeing three key sport disciplines, Beach Volleyball ( for departments), Shooting event (Shotgun + Air gun) for Men , Women and families and Padel Event-Doubles (Men).
Qatar U23 team to take on Uzbekistan in a friendly match
Doha: Qatar U23 team will take on Uzbekistan in a friendly match in Doha on Saturday ahead of the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024, which is starting next month.
The Qatar U23 squad will meet Uzbekistan twice on March 23 and 26 before taking on their China counterparts on March 31. They will also play against Malaysia on April 7, wrapping up their preparations for the U23 Asian Cup to be played from April 15 to May 3.
Hosts Qatar are in Group A of the 16-team continental event along with Australia, Jordan and Indonesia.

QOC Women's Ramadan Football Tournament to begin on Monday
Doha: The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) announced on Thursday that it will organize the first edition of the QOC Women's Ramadan Football Tournament from March 25-28 at the Education City Stadium.
Salah Al Saadi, Assistant Director of the QOC Sports Events Department said that the tournament will be held in cooperation with the Qatar Foundation.
The event will feature the participation of 6 teams including Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Qatar Foundation, Team Qatar, Paris Saint-Germain and Al Shammal.
