Qatar Olympic team to meet Kuwait in home friendly
DOHA: Qatar Olympic football team will play a friendly match against Kuwait today at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium.
The match comes as part of the two teams’ preparations for AFC U-23 Cup tournament qualifiers. Qatar will host the AFC U-23 Cup next year from April 15 to May 3. It is also a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
The coach of the Qatar team, Portuguese Elidio Vale had called a total of 32 players to line up for the competition. The team participated in the Asian Games in China and was eliminated from the round of 16 after losing to hosts 0-1
Qatar defeat Iraq at four-nation tournament
Amman: Qatar defeated Iraq 6-5 on penalties after both the teams had played a goalless draw in regulation time at the Jordan four-nation friendly tournament in Amman on Friday.
In the penalty shootout, Team Qatar goalkeeper Mishal Barshem was the star as he saved two shots. Hassan al-Haydos, Ahmed Suhail, Akram Afif, Sultan al-Breik, Jassim Jaber and Mustafa Meshal scored for Qatar in the shootout, with Ahmed Fathi and Ahmed Alaa missing. For Iraq, Dorsey, Ali Adnan, Ahmed Ali, Amir al-Ammari and Robin Sulaqa scored, while Ali al-Hammadi, Muhannad Ali and Bashar Resin were off target.
Qatar next take on the winner of the contest between hosts Jordan and Iran in the final on Tuesday.
Rashed Nawaf and Mousa Shanan qualify to quarterfinals
Qatar's Rashed Nawaf and Mousa Shanan qualified to the quarterfinals of the 4th Qatar Men's ITF World Tennis Tour organized by the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) in cooperation with International Tennis Federation (ITF) at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
The event brings together 32 players in singles event and 16 teams in doubles event.
The Qatari duo made it to the quarterfinals after beating Romania's Andrei Cuceu and India's Tushar Sharma 2-0.
In the quarterfinals, Nawaf and Shanan will take on Russia's Egor Agafonov and Marat Sharipov.
In singles event, Marek Gengel of Czech Republic qualified to the quarterfinals after his 2-0 victory over Paul Woerner of Germany while Russia's Alexey Zakharov edged past his compatriot Bogdan Bobrov to reach the quarterfinals.
The ITF Men's World Tennis Tour serves as the entry level for professional tennis as the results of ITF tournaments are incorporated into the ATP Ranking, which enables professionals to progress to the ATP Challenger Tour and, ultimately, the ATP Tour.
QOC, CBQ exchange professional experience and knowledge to enhance employees work performance
DOHA – The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has organized a three - day working visit to the Headquarters of Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) on the 9th , 10th and 11th of October to exchange experience & knowledge with the CBQ counterparts under the supervision of the QOC HR Department.
In the start of the visit, the employees received a brief presentation on CBQ history of foundation in 1975, stages of development , strategies, policies, organizational chart, CBQ services, social responsibility and programs in health and environment.
Visiting staff have shared experience and exchanged creative knowledge on HR key issues, namely recruitment and selection, employee onboarding and orientation, training and development, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, HR Analytics, HR governance, HR Technology and systems.
A number of vital topics have been discussed by both teams , including , branding, marketing sponsorship, events, PR, social medial, as well as internal audit plans, internal audit methodology and internal audit department responsibilities.
On day 2 and day 3, the QOC visiting employees were distributed into groups to tour the CBQ’s departments, sections and units to know about work process in each section. This visit helps All-out sustainable development to be applicable and enhances cooperation between the QOC and the CBQ.
Director of Human Resources and Administrative Affairs Department, Mrs. Maryam Mohammed Al-Kuwari said we are truly happy to keep our efforts active to enhance Qatari employee’s experience and build up his/her professional skills to be able to manage all human, financial, logistics and administrative resources in our organisation”.
“ Our team visit to Commercial Bank of Qatar came after a two-day productive visit we had to Hamad Bin Khalifa University, where QOC and HBKU teams exchanged experience on some vital topics, strategic plan development, strategic management framework, integrated annual planning process and, annual performance process and risk assessment and management.” She added.
Most notably, the objectives of this visit come in tune with the strategic goal of the QOC’s Human Resources & Administrative Services Department :” Create an attractive and an ideal working environment for better talents and experiences”.
Queiroz names Qatar squad for 4-nation tourney
DOHA - Head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 24-player Qatar squad for the Jordan International Quad Championship, which begins from in Amman. Apart from hosts Jordan, the tournament also features Arabian Gulf Cup champions Iraq and Iran.
In their opening matches, Asian champions Qatar will take on Iraq, while Jordan face Iran tomorrow. The final and a play-off game will be played on October 17. Veteran Portuguese coach Queiroz, who has one eye on the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and Asian Cup, has opted for several changes from the side that lost to Kenya and drew with Russian in friendlies last month.
Goalkeeper Jasem al-Hail, defenders Hazem Ahmed and Pedro Miguel were dropped, with Al Rayyan custodian Fahad Younes finding a place in the squad. Goalkeepers Saad al-Sheeb and Yousef Hassan and defender Boualam Khoukhi missed out after suffering ‘minor injuries’ during training sessions, Qatar Football Association said in a statement. Qatar had a short training camp ahead of the four-nation tournament with Queiroz holding training sessions at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Team Qatar to face Netherlands in World Beach Volleyball Championship
Mexico City: Team Qatar duo of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan will lock horns against Netherlands in the last 32 stage of the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Championships in Mexico on Wednesday.
Most notably, team Qatar have secured their spot in the second round after getting better of Guatemala and China 2-0.
As per the draw held recently, Team Qatar were drawn in group (G) alongside China, Brazil and Guatemala.
