Qatar Lose to Germany 27-31 in Opener of IHF 2023 World Men's Championship
Katowice (QNA) - Qatar's national handball team lost opening match to Germany 27-31 this evening at the Spodek Arena in the Polish city of Katowice in Group E of the 28th IHF 2023 World Men's Championship held in Sweden and Poland until Jan. 29.
The first half of the match ended, with Qatar trailing by five goals against Germany 13-18.
The Qatari national team is scheduled to face Algeria in second match on Sunday.
In other matches of the championship today, Netherlands secured a 29-19 victory over Argentina in Group F, America beat Morocco 28-27 in Group E, while Tunisia tied with Bahrain 27-27 in Group H. (QNA)
Qatar to Face Iraq in Semi-final after 1-1 Draw with UAE
BASRA, IRAQ , January 14 – Team Qatar officially booked a place in the semi-final of the 25th edition of Arabian Gulf Football Cup Championship , following its 1-1 draw with the UAE in their match Friday at Al Mina Stadium in the Iraqi city of Basra, at the end of the third round of the group stage within Group B fixtures.
Team Qatar ’s points jumped up to four to finish second behind Bahraini team with 7 points, while the Kuwaiti team, the 10 time-champion, finished third with four points, and the UAE team came in fourth with one point.
The Qatari team will face their Iraqi counterpart in the semi-final on Monday.
Gulf 25/ Qatar lose to Bahrain 1-2
Basra- (QNA) - The Qatari national football team lost to its Bahraini counterpart 1-2 on Tuesday at Al-Minaa International Stadium in the second round of Group B competitions of the Arab Gulf Football Cup (Gulf 25).
Although the Qatari team advanced first through Ahmed Alaa in the 34th minute, the Bahraini team was able to equalize in the 72nd minute before scoring the second goal in the 89th minute from a penalty kick.
The Qatari team's balance remained at three points in the second place behind the Bahraini team in the first place with six points, while Kuwaiti team finished in third place with three points and finally the UAE team in the last place with zero points.
By this result the decision to qualify in this group was postponed to the last round which will be held on Friday, when the Qatari team will play against UAE, and Bahrain will face Kuwait. (QNA)
Qatar Olympic Committee holds Training Program for Community College students
DOHA - The Human Resources and Administrative Affairs Department of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) is organizing a practical training program for students of Community College of Qatar at the QOC headquarters.
The two month training program, which will last until 9th of March brings together 13 students from the Community College of Qatar to receive intensive training sessions at the QOC departments , including Information Technology (IT) , human resources and administrative affairs and Strategy and Projects.
Most notably, this program comes in the frame of the QOC's strategy to provide a theoretical and practical training for high education students to help their skills and experience develop , to pave their way into the work environment and to achieve the goals of the Qatar 2030 national vision.
By organizing this program, the students could interact positively with the work environment, likewise the government and non-government organizations will have an opportunity to share students their skills and ideas and helping them to take responsibility, complying with work restrictions , dealing with community individuals and building up a better understanding of theoretical sciences.
It is the first time that students of Community College of Qatar have a practical training program at the QOC Headquarters.
Team Qatar defeat Kuwait in Gulf Cup
Basra: The Qatari national football team began their campaign at the 25th Gulf Cup with a 2-0 victory over their Kuwaiti counterparts at Al-Minaa Stadium in the Iraqi city of Basra on Saturday.
The Qatari national team's double was scored by Omar Siraj in minute (23), and Ahmed Alaa in minute (38) from a penalty kick.
With this result, the Qatari team topped their group with three points, while the Kuwaiti team remained with zero points.
The left winger of the Qatari team, Omar Siraj, won the best player of the match award.
2023 IJF World Judo Championships brand and logo unveiled
DOHA - 2023 IJF World Judo Championships Organizing Committee has unveiled on Thursday its brand and logo, that was inspired from the game culture and Doha city ’s amazing urban development.
This brand concept has been inspired from the letter "D", which symbolizes the first letter of Doha and stimulates Judo’s skills and movements, as the red and purple colors signalize the spirt and excitement of the sport.
In the same context, the Tatami, the mat that covers the judo flooring represents the background of all logo elements.
Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee and General Manager of the tournament said “We together feel confident that this international Judo event will hit the peak of success and will be an exceptional event. The logo fittingly combines the words (Judo and Doha) which could be read both vertically and horizontally”.
“We are grateful for the unwavering support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, The president of Qatar Olympic Committee and the local organizing committee. The unveiling of 2023 World Judo Championships logo has come after Qatar has received the tournament’s flag in Uzbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent during the recent event’s closing ceremony in 2022.
As usual, Doha will keep up its promise to reach highest organization levels, by bringing together the game’s top stars, who will fight tooth and nail for top honors from May 7th-14th 2023, at the Ali bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Arena.
