Olympic Values Education Training Course concludes
Doha– The Olympic Values Education Training Course organized by the Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) was concluded on recently.
The four-day course was bifurcated into theoretical and practical lectures with the participation of 20 coaches from Qatar and abroad.
The lecture was delivered by Vice Chairman at Oman School Sports Association Hisham Al Adwani with the assistance of Mohammed Omar, the swimming coach at Al Khor Sports Club, and Hasnaa Buhaqab from the Qatar Olympic Academy, where they presented part of the theoretical lectures and presented skills for practical application of Olympic values during the course days.
The course addressed numerous themes, where the lecturers had initially reviewed the beginning of the ancient Olympic Games in Greece and its ancient and great history.
Models of applications of cognitive activities to disseminate Olympic values and principles to students in physical education classes were also presented. (QNA)
Team Qatar win 11 medals in West Asian Championship
Amman- Qatar’s age-group table tennis teams did the nation proud as they won five gold and a silver in the 2022 West Asian Championship in Amman, Jordan, on Sunday.
Mohammed Al Sulaiti did the star turn for Qatar, winning the singles and doubles gold in the boys’ under-13 category. The youngster was engaged in a marathon final against Ali Al Hawai of the United Arab Emirates, before emerging 3-2 winner.
Earlier, he combined with Youssef Abdullah to emerge on top in the doubles final.
Qatar’s Sultan Al Kuwari was crowned the boys under-15 singles champion while in the under-19 section, Ahmed Jabbar and Abdullah Abdul Wahab claimed the doubles title.
There was further title joy for Qatar in the boys’ U-17 doubles, where Khaled Al Yafei and Youssef Ali emerged on top.
Maryam Ali was Qatar’s lone medallist in the girls’ section, winning the silver in the U-17 event.
Team Qatar lose to turkey in Challenger Cup
Seoul-Team Qatar lost their match against Turkey 1-3 in the quarterfinals of the Volleyball Challenger Cup, which is currently held in South Korea's Seoul.
With this victory, the Turkish team qualified to face their South Korean counterparts, who defeated the Australian team.
Qatar, Korea (the host), Tunisia, Turkey, Cuba, Chile, the Czech Republic, and Australia are participating in the tournament.
Team Qatar stars shine in West Asian Table Tennis Championship
Amman-The players of Qatar national table tennis team began their campaign in singles and doubles competitions of the 2022 West Asian Table Tennis Championship on Friday.
The championship brings together, hosts Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq.
Fahad Al Moghni qualified to the round of 16 after beating Yemen's Abdulrahman Al Yafei 3-1. He also secured his spot in the 2022 Asian Table Tennis Championship.
Teams competitions were concluded on Thursday where Qatar claimed one gold medal and three bronze medals.
Qatar's Under 15 national team claimed won the gold medal on Thursday. Team Qatar including Sultan Khaled Al-Kuwari, Abbad Nasser Al-Abdullah, Ruwad Al-Nasser and Ahmed Eid Qarni defeated Bahrain 3-0 in the final match.

Amman-Qatar's Under 15 national team claimed the title of the 2022 West Asian Table Tennis Championship in Amman, Jordan on Thursday.
Team Qatar including Sultan Khaled Al-Kuwari, Abbad Nasser Al-Abdullah, Ruwad Al-Nasser and Ahmed Eid Qarni defeated Bahrain 3-0 in the final match.

Qatar Junior Handball Team to get ready for Asian Championship
DOHA - The Qatar National Junior Handball team will hold a training camp in Egypt from August 6 to 14, in preparation for participating in the 9th Asian Junior Championship to be held in Bahrain from August 20 to 31, qualifying for the 2023 World Championship in Croatia.
During the camp, the team will play a number of friendly matches, through which the coaching staff seeks to reach the highest levels of readiness before entering the continental merit competitions.
The draw for the ninth Asian Junior Championship placed the Qatari national team in Group B along with Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Kuwait. Group A includes Bahrain, Iran, India, South Korea and Uzbekistan.
The Qatari national team will start its matches in the tournament facing the UAE on August 20, then Saudi Arabia on August 21, before facing Iraq on August 23 and then Japan on August 24, while concluding its matches by meeting Kuwait on August 26.
Qatari national junior handball team was crowned the Asian Championship title twice in 2010 and 2012.
