QOA organizes Olympic Values Workshop
Doha: The Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) held the Olympic Values Workshop on Tuesday. The workshop featured the participation of 70 trainees from Qatar and abroad.
In the first lecture, the International Olympic Academy Dean Konstantinos Georgiadis focused lights on the beginning of Olympic movement, Olympic Values and composition of the Olympics.
For his part, the Volunteer Strategy Manager at Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Nasser Al Mogaiseeb highlighted the culture of volunteering, and its importance to the individual, society, and national and international institutions.
The 2022 calendar of the Qatar Olympic Academy includes four sessions on the Olympic Culture .
Tamimi wins gold medal of West Asia Squash Championship
TEHRAN – Iran - Qatar’s top squash player Abdullah Al Tamimi won a gold medal of the West Asian Squash Championship in Tehran, Iran, on Thursday.
Al Tamimi beating home favourite Alireza Shameli 3-0 in Thursday final.
The state of Qatar is represented by four players including Abdullah Al Tamimi, Ahmed Al Tamimi, Sayed Amjad and Abdulrahman Al Malki . The delegation is chaired by Yousef Al Malki and accompanied by the coach Saud Baker.
Team Qatar win two bronze medals at Asian Taekwondo Championships
Chuncheon: Qatar's Othman Boularas and Huda Mohamed claimed the bronze medal of the Over 30 Years Pairs Category at the Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships concluded in Chuncheon, South Korea on Monday.
The event brought together 750 players from 35 nations.
Boularas took his second bronze medal in Men's under 40 years event after losing to silver medallist Iran's Ali Nadali Najafabadi in the semifinals.
Crouin downs Cardenas in Doha for biggest career win
DOHA - French World No.20 Victor Crouin claimed the biggest title of his career when he defeated Mexican Leonel Cardenas 3:1 (11-5, 9-11, 19-17, 12-10) in the final of the QSF 4 Challenger 30 level event at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Saturday .
Crouin, the top seed in Doha, had booked his place in the final after India’s Ramit Tandon had to retire injured midway through the second game with Crouin 11-4 and 7-4 up in the semi-final which lasted for just 19 minutes. He had earlier defeated England’s Curtis Malik and Egypt’s Mazen Gamal en route to semis.
Crouin had earlier won two Challenger 20 level crowns in the 2021-2022 season.
Cardenas, the tournament’s No.4 seed, had dropped just a single game ahead of yesterday’s final, but The 23-year-old Frenchman was too good for him in the title clash. Crouin and Cardenas had met five times on PSA Tour, with the Frenchman claiming a 3-2 lead.
Cardenas reached the final after defeating the tournament’s surprise package Aly Abou Eleinen in the semis following wins against Czech Republic’s Martin Svec and Pakistan’s No.7 seed Tayyab Aslam.
Qatar to play Uruguay for final 2023 ANOC World Beach Games place
ATHENS - After Qatar defeated Norway and Uruguay beat Spain in the first round of matches in the 5-8 placement round, they have set up a 5/6 placement match on Sunday.
The winners not only finish in the top five in the world, but book the last Greece 2022 ticket to Bali, Indonesia for the second edition of the ANOC World Beach Games.
Most notably, team Qatar suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of hosts Greece in the quarterfinals stage on Saturday and failed to reach the last four stage.
QOC Change Management Training Course concludes
DOHA – Change Management Training Course for the directors and Assistant directors of Qatar Olympic Committee’s departments was successfully concluded at the QOC’s Headquarters on Thursday.
This three -day training course has focussed lights on how to help the targeted category to their abilities to adopt strategies that suit all change process- related parties.
A series of vital topics have being discussed during the course , namely, the change methods , how do individuals get involved in change processing management , how can they set up strategies to deal with change and build up innovation culture, career empowerment, emotional intelligence to manage change and develop individual plans.
The course mainly aims to invest any change opportunities available and manage them efficiently in a way that will help QOC’s objectives become achievable and successful.
In a post- course statement on Thursday, the course key lecturer, Dr. Mai Issa said the course’s developmental program has seen a series of working sessions that discussed the change that previously- planned for the current five- years plan and we will shift to the next five- years plan in 2023.
“ These productive sessions came out with a working paper that includes all elements of strategic analysis, top important elements of success to be approve in combine and to set up the next strategic plan”. Added Dr. Mae Issa.
At the closing session, the trainees were handed up with appreciation certificates respectively, as the course key lecturer and expert Dr. Mai Issa has been honoured for providing such timely and meaningful information to the course.
