Module 1 of Arab Coaching Program concludes
Doha: The Module 1 of Arab Coaching Program organized by the Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) was concluded at the QOA Headquarters on Thursday.
The five-day training course brought together 20 coaches.
The training program aims at applying training methods to different skills in specialized sports, planning training programs in specialized sports and evaluation of training programs in specialized sports.
The course lectures were delivered by Dr. Senaid Al-Marri, Assistant Professor of sport Management, Dr. Suhail Hermasi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Dr. Maha Sellami, Assistant Professor of Clinical Exercise Physiology at the Faculty of Education.
QOC to organize 2022 Ultimate Race on March 19
Doha: The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) unveiled all organizational and technical measures that been taken ahead of the inaugural edition of Its Ultimate Race which will be held on March 19 at the Cultural Village Katara.
At the press conference held on Sunday to brief media on the event, Sheikh Suhaim bin Mohamed Al Thani, Director of the QOC Ultimate Race 2022 said, "The QOC will organize this community event to raise awareness about the importance of sport and to take community sport to new grounds."
"The 2022 Ultimate race will also help the national sports federation to discover and attract new talents to the Qatari national teams" he added.
Sheikh Suhaim also stressed that the organizing committee offers more than QR 350.000 in prize money for winners of different categories.
For his part, Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Deputy Director of the event lauded the huge turnout of athletes to participate in QOC Ultimate Race 2022 as 175 athletes have so far confirmed their participation in the event. He also confirmed that the registration will remain open through the QOC official website and social media platforms.
Deputy Director of the event stressed that the athletes have to be physical fit for the race and have to commit to the preventive measures announced by the state of Qatar to curb the spread of Covid-19.
On other hand, Mohammed Hamad Al-Meanis, Head of Marketing and Communication Committee thanked Katara for their cooperation with the QOC and the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation in organizing this event and for their contribution to organizing a huge number of international sports events.
He also hailed the support of the sponsors of this event including Vodafone Qatar and QQQ Media as well as the official suppliers A&H Sports and Elan Print.
For his part, Thani Khalifa Al Zaraa, Secretary General of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation said that the open sprint distance will begin with a 750m swim to be followed by 20km bike then 5km run.
He added that Youth Duathlon (12-15 Years) will be divided into 1km Run, 6.5km Bike and 3km Run while Youth Duathlon (7-11 Years) will include 1km Run, 2.6km Bike and 1km Run
Team Qatar to participate in 2022 GCC Golf Championships
Doha: The Qatari national golf team will participate in the 2022 GCC Golf Championships to begin in Dubai, United Arab Emirate on Monday.
The championships will bring together the six GCC nations including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and hosts UAE.
Qatar's challenge will be led by Ali Abdullah Al Shahrani, Saleh Ali Al Kaabi, Jeham Jassim Al Kuwari and Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Shahrani in Men's event while Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Ali bin Saoud Al-Thani and Hamad Nedal Asaad will represent Qatar in youth event.
WTT Feeder Doha 2022 to begin on Sunday
Doha: The competitions of WTT Feeder Doha 2022 will begin at the Women's club at Aspire Zone on Sunday.
To concluded on March 17, the event will bring together 265 players from China, Korea, Tunisia, India, France, Egypt, Japan, Italy, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia and hosts Qatar.
The Qatar's challenge in men's competitions will be led by Mohamed Abdulwahab, Ahmed Saadawi, Ahmed Muthana, Abdullah Abdulwahab and Fahad Al Mughni.
Maryam Ali and Shouq Abdullah will represent Qatar in Women's competitions.
Stage set for Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2022
Doha: Some of the world's top golfers will face off in a thrilling contest at the annual $2m Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Doha which will be played from March 24-27 as part of the DP World Tour at the Doha Golf Club, organizers of the event said on Friday.
Around 140 top-ranked players vie for the mother of Pearl Trophy at the tournament which celebrates its silver jubilee this year and which returns to its original home at Doha Golf Course, after two years at Education City.
The Qatar Masters is a professional golf tournament, which was part of the erstwhile European Tour and was founded in 1998, making it the 2nd oldest DP World Tour event on the Arabian Peninsula after the Dubai Desert Classic, and it now forms part of an extended Middle East Swing on the tour.
Last year, Antoine Rozner’s closing 67 helped him ward off the challenge of Italian Guido Migliozzie, South Africa’s Darren Fichardt and Indian star Gaganjeet Bhullar, all who finished tied second, one back. England’s Richard McEvoy and Welshman Jamie Donaldson rounded out the top five.
The event which has had been previously won by the likes of Ernie Els, Adam Scott, Paul Lawrie and Henrik Stenson will see some of the top ranked players in attendance at the 2022 edition.
The highly anticipated event organised by The Qatar Golf Association (QGA), the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Doha Golf Club (DGC) and long-term title sponsor, Commercial Bank will have its pro-am event on March 23 and the champion will be crowned on March 27.
The Qatar Golf Association officials are working overtime to put the logistics and the technical aspects of hosting the tournament in place.
“The officials of DP World Tour are expected to arrive two weeks before the events and the next batch of officials will check into Doha one week prior to the event, followed by the media team which is covering the event for DP World Tour, followed by the players, caddies and other personnel,” informed Mike Shoueiry Technical Director at QGA.
“We have made all the arrangements and working at top pace to give the best experience to fans, officials and all those associated with the tournament,” he added.
Stage set for second edition of 2022 QOC Beach Games
DOHA – The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) held a press conference Wednesday to unveil all organisational and technical measures that been taken ahead of its second edition of 2022 Beach Games, which will be held from 19th to 25th March at Cultural Village Katara.
The 2022 Beach Games Director, Mr. Rashid Adiba gave a welcoming speech, reviewing the objectives of the Games, participating teams , organisational and administrative measures that being taken ahead of these games.
On Wednesday’s press conference which is attended by members of the organising committee and media representatives Mr. Adiba said" By hosting this community event, the QOC aims at taking the sport community to new grounds and building up standards of physical and social health for local society individuals”.
“ Beach games lovers and amateurs have been invited by the QOC to register their names and details via a link set up on the QOC official website and social media accounts, that to get confirmation for participation in the Games”.
“ Approximately a total of 560 to 600 participants (Men and Women) will be competing in five beach sports for individuals and teams including football, volleyball , 3x3 basketball, swimming marathon and Karate.” Added Mr. Adiba.
In the same context, Mr Mana Ahmed Al-jel , Head of Technical Committee said: “ We truly grateful to play a vital role and making this community event successful and more effective”.
“ We will spare no effort to provide all logistic and administrative services that will help the tournament reaching its objectives and benefiting the entire sport sector, on this occasion we give letter of thanks to all sponsors and sport federations for their effective contributions and services” Al-jel added.
The QOC Beach Games, is a community activity will help promoting these sort of games inside the Qatari society, to keep the country's unparalleled success going on after hosted the 2019 ANOC Beach Games in Doha.
The tournament is one of the community events and activities organized by the QOC annually to take all individuals of the society to greater standards of health and physical fitness.
A number of educational and cultural programs are campaigning together for sustainability throughout (Water is Life) to serve the community and urging every single citizen and resident to preserve the Qatar’s environment and tourist beaches will go side by side with the Games.
