Qatar to take on Luxembourg in European 2022 Qualifiers
Doha- Qatari national football team continued their intensified trainings for their matches in UEFA's FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign. Qatar's team will kick off their participation with a match against Luxembourg on March 24. The second match will be against Azerbaijan on March 27.
The team's matches in the first round will conclude with a match against their Irish counterpart on Match 30.
The Qatari team had traveled on Friday to the Hungarian city of Debrecen on a special plane. The Asian champions will join Group A - alongside UEFA Euro 2016 winners Portugal, Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, and Azerbaijan.
The Squad includes Pedro Miguel, Salem Al Hajri, Tariq Salman, Abdel-Karim Hassan, Boualam Khokhi, Hassan Al Haydos, Youssef Abdel-Razzaq, Ahmed Suhail, Musab Khader and Muhammad Waad (Al Sadd). Salah Zakaria, Bassam Al Rawi, Asim Madibu, Muiz Ali, Karim Boudiaf, Ismail Muhammad, Muhammad Muntari, and Abdullah Abd al-Salam (Al Duhail). Ahmed Ala Al Din, Humam Al Amin, Muayyad Hassan and Tamim Al Muhaizeh (Al Gharafa) Ahmed Fathi and Mahmoud Abu Nada (Al Arabi) Abdul Aziz Hatem (Al Rayyan) Khaled Munir (Al Wakrah).
The European Football Association (UEFA) invited the Qatar Football Association to participate in the first team's European qualifiers for the World Cup (Qatar 2022), in a move that reflects the position of the State of Qatar on the international sport stage.
Qatar win skeet mixed team bronze at shooting World Cup
New Delhi-Qatar claimed the bronze medal of skeet mixed team event on the fifth day of the ISSF Shooting World Cup in New Delhi on Tuesday.
At the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, the Qatari duo of Rashid Saleh and Reem Al Sharshani defeated India's Mairaj Khan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal in the bronze medal match.
India's Ganemat Sekhon and Angad Bajwa clinched the gold medal as they shot 33 to beat Kazhakstan's Olga Panarina and Aleksandr Yechsenko who scored 29.
The mixed team skeet shooting was the sole event of the day, with the top from the morning's qualification finishing in exactly the same order in the final two matches.
Stage set for Qatar Fencing Grand Prix
Doha-The Qatar Weightlifting and Fencing Federation (QWFF) has completed the preparations for the 2021 Qatar Fencing Grand Prix in FOIL, which will run over three days, March 26- 28, 2021, at Aspire Dome.
The event will be held under strict precautionary measures, and all participants will be subject to a health bubble throughout the competition period. Doha is set to host as a record number of top world fencers descend on Qatar for competition.
The QWFF Secretary General and director of the championship Khalid al-Hammadi said Doha was looking forward to presenting a successful edition that adds to their previous successes which won praise from all participants. The tournament will be attended by a number of fencers from 39 countries with a total of 380 participants including players, coaches, and technical and administrative teams, he said.
Fencers from Arab countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco will participate, including the Egyptian fencer Alaa Abul Qasim, who won the silver medal at the London Olympics, and the Tunisian fencer Ines Boubakri, the winner of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
The tournament is of great importance as it will be the last before the Tokyo Olympics 2021, and the top fencers are looking to get points in Doha that help towards qualification for Tokyo Olympic Games, he said, adding that the Federation has made tremendous efforts to hold the event under the full supervision of the Ministry of Public Health and in accordance with the precautionary measures.
Team Qatar claim skeet silver in ISSF World Cup
New Delhi -Qatar’s men’s skeet team comprising Olympic bronze medallist Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, who won the men's skeet bronze at the Cairo Shotgun World Cup last month, Rashid Saleh and Ali Ahmed Al Ishaq, currently ranked 45 in the world, clinched the silver medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in New Delhi yesterday.
In yesterday's gold medal match, Qatar team lost 6-2 to India which had the services of Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Gurjoat Khangura.

Qatar's Nasser Al-Attiyah claims Skeet bronze in ISSF World Cup
New Delhi- Qatar’s Nasser Saleh al-Attiyah claimed the bronze medal of men's skeet event in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in New Delhi, India on Sunday.
Jesper Hansen of Denmark clinched the men's skeet honours on 58 targets ahead of Saif Bin Futais of the United Arab Emirates in second place.
Al-Attiyah, 2012 London Olympic bronze medalist and an ace rally driver did enough for bronze on 44 while his compatriot Rashed Saleh Al Athba took the fifth place.
Majed Al Naimi, Secretary General of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association congratulated Nasser Al Attiyah and wished the best for the other Qatari shooters on the upcoming days of the tournament.
