Doha: Team Qatar men’s volleyball team secured at least a medal in the volleyball competition after recording their second consecutive victory with a straight-sets win over Oman at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026, currently taking place in Doha and continuing until May 22, with the participation of 1,400 male and female athletes representing six GCC countries across 17 sports.
Team Qatar won the match in straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-13, and 25-13.
The Qatari team delivered a strong performance against Oman and managed to close out the match quickly by relying on a solid blocking system and powerful spikes that made the task easier for the players, particularly in the second and third sets.
In another match during the same round, Bahrain also secured their second consecutive victory after defeating the UAE in straight sets.
Following the conclusion of the second round of the competition, which features four teams competing in a single round-robin format, Team Qatar and Bahrain shared top spot in the standings with six points each, while the UAE and Oman remained without points.
The third and final round of the volleyball competition will take place tomorrow, Monday, with Team Qatar facing Bahrain in a decisive match for the gold medal, while the losing side will receive the silver medal.
Another match will also take place between Kuwait and the UAE to determine third place in the overall standings and the bronze medal.
