Aichi-Nagoya - Qatar’s men’s national volleyball team opened their Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games campaign with an important 3–1 victory over Hong Kong in Group C. 

Team Qatar started strongly in an evenly contested opening set. Hong Kong led until the seventh point before Qatar moved 8–7 ahead. The teams remained close at 9–9 before Qatar began to take control, moving 13–11 and then 19–17 ahead. 

Hong Kong reduced the deficit to one point at 19–18, but Qatar responded by extending their lead to 22–18, then 23–18 and 24–19, before taking the opening set 25–20. Qatar again started strongly in the second set, leading 6–4, 10–7 and 12–7. 

Hong Kong responded to level the scores at 14–14 and 15–15 before taking their first lead at 16–15. The battle continued until the closing points, with Hong Kong eventually taking the set 26–24 to level the match at one set apiece.

Team Qatar regained their composure in the third set and imposed their advantage to win it 25–20 and move 2–1 ahead. Qatar maintained their superiority in the fourth set, controlling proceedings before closing it out 25–21 to seal a 3–1 victory and make a positive start to their campaign. Team Qatar face Vietnam today in their second Group C match, seeking a second consecutive victory and qualification for the next round.
