وجاء تأهل مرسي بعد احتلاله المركز الرابع في تصفيات السباق، مسجلا زمنا قدره 2:17.75 دقيقة، ليحجز مقعده في النهائي، ويواصل مشاركته في منافسات الدورة ممثلا للسباحة القطرية.
ويعكس تأهل مرسي إلى النهائي تطور مستوى السباحة القطرية، وقدرة لاعبيها على المنافسة وتسجيل نتائج مشرفة في الاستحقاقات الرياضية الدولية.

Mini World Cup 2026–2027 kicks off with 32 Schools Participating
DOHA: The Mini World Cup 2026–2027 tipped off today at Qatar Sports Club, bringing together 32 schools representing 32 countries. Organised by the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Local Organising Committee (LOC), in collaboration with the Qatar School Sports Federation, the initiative aims to promote basketball among school students and engage younger generations in activities leading up to Qatar's hosting of the global tournament next year.The opening day was attended by Burton Shipley, Chairman of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Organising Committee; Dr. Ahmad Abdulla Al-Buenain, Director General of the LOC; and Predrag Bogosavljev, FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Director.Opening Day ResultsEach of the 32 participating schools has selected a country to represent and compete under its name, creating an experience that mirrors the format of the FIBA Basketball World Cup. The initiative allows students to learn about different cultures while taking part in basketball competitions, fostering teamwork, respect and sportsmanship.The opening day featured four matches, with Almaahad Al Dinee (Qatar) securing a 64–13 victory over Nasser Al Athiya School (Senegal). GEMS American Academy Qatar (USA) defeated Birla Public School (Cameroon) 71–26, while Qatar-Finland International School (Dominican Republic) recorded a 36–26 win over Rajagiri Public School (Greece). In the closest contest of the day, American Academy School (Japan) edged Lycée Français Bonaparte (Slovenia) 47–45.The schools have been drawn into eight groups of four teams each. Every team will play three matches in the first round, with a total of 48 games scheduled between November 2 and 26.
Qatar Olympic Committee and QU Broaden Partnership in Sport and Physical Health
DOHA – The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and Qatar University (QU) have announced a new phase of institutional cooperation following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at the QOC headquarters. The MoU seeks to expand joint efforts in the fields of education, sports training, scientific research and development, as well as the development of national capabilities and competencies within the sports sector.The MoU was signed by H.E. Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buenain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Dr. Omar Mohamed Al-Ansari, President of Qatar University, in the presence of Dr. Khalid W. Bibi, Dean of the College of Sport Sciences at Qatar University, and Dr. Monoem Haddad, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the College.The MoU establishes an integrated framework for cooperation in talent development and leadership skills, while also providing avenues of academic support for Qatari athletes. These efforts will help athletes balance the demands of their sporting careers with their academic pursuits, while opening broader pathways for personal development and excellence.
Qatar's Zamel Al Shahrani Elected Vice President of United World Wrestling
DOHA - The General Assembly of United World Wrestling (UWW) has elected Zamel Sayyaf Al Shahrani, former president of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, as a vice president of the international governing body. The election was held in Kazakhstan, with representatives of national federations from around the world taking part.Al Shahrani's election recognizes his sporting career, extensive administrative experience and contributions to developing wrestling and raising its profile at the regional and international levels.He is regarded as one of the prominent sports administrators who have contributed to the development of the sport. He previously served as president of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation and the Arab Wrestling Federation, in addition to serving on UWW's Bureau, giving him extensive experience in sports administration at various levels.The election represents a new achievement for Qatari sports and a gain for Arab sports, while strengthening the presence of Arab expertise in leadership and decision-making positions within international sports federations and organizations.On the occasion, HE President of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid Al-Thani, said Al Shahrani's election as a vice president of United World Wrestling (UWW) marked a major achievement for Qatari sports and a gain for Arab sports. In the Presence of Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad, Qatar Takes Part in Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony
Dakar: In the presence of H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Qatari delegation took part in the opening ceremony of the fourth edition of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Athlete Adam Morsy represented the Qatari delegation, carrying the flag of the State of Qatar during the Parade of Nations. The ceremony showcased a harmonious blend of sport, culture and the arts, while celebrating Africa’s identity and rich cultural heritage under the theme “Africa Welcomes, Dakar Celebrates”. It was held at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in the Senegalese city of Diamniadio, which has a seating capacity of 50,000 spectators.The opening ceremony was also attended by a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, led by H.E. Mr Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal; Ms Kirsty Coventry, President of the International Olympic Committee; Ms Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar’s Bid for the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
