Overview

Cricket was first played near Khalifa Stadium before 12 teams formed the national association in 1980. The sport reflects Qatar’s diverse communities and is now organized through domestic leagues, national teams, and technical programmes.

West End Park International Cricket Stadium, opened in 2013, provides a 13,000-capacity venue for official matches. Qatar gained T20I status in 2019 and hosted its first ODI series in 2022 between Afghanistan and the Netherlands.

The association’s priorities include youth academies, women’s cricket, and stronger performance in ICC regional qualifiers.
