Qatar’s beach volleyball stars Cherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan powered into the Round of 16 at the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide, delivering a composed straight-sets win over Brazil, 23–21, 22–20.
Unbeaten since the start of the tournament, the Qatari pair dominated their group with clinical victories over Cuba, Switzerland, and Austria—each secured in straight sets. Their triumph against Brazil extends their winning streak to four matches and further cements their status as one of the championship’s most in-form teams.
Renowned for their explosive attacking play and commanding presence at the net, Younes and Tijan will next take on France’s Rotar and Gauthier on Thursday, with a coveted quarter-final berth on the line.
Qatar enters the knockout rounds riding a wave of international momentum, backed by an illustrious run that includes Olympic bronze at Tokyo 2020, a strong fourth-place finish at Paris 2024, and eight World Tour gold medals this season.
