Qatar U-17 Handball Team Secures semifinal Berth at Asian Championship

Amman, Jordan – The Qatari U-17 handball team has secured a spot in the semifinals of the inaugural Asian U-17 Handball Championship after a hard-fought 26–22 victory over Kuwait Saturday in the main round of the tournament, currently being held in Amman, Jordan. The championship runs through September 25 and serves as a qualifier for the U-17 World Championship in Morocco.

This marks Qatar’s second win in the main round, following their 32–25 triumph over hosts Jordan yesterday. With two consecutive victories, the Qatari team has confirmed their place in the semifinals ahead of their final main round match against Iran tomorrow.

Earlier, Qatar advanced to the main round by topping Group B in the preliminary stage with four points from two wins — a dominant 38–24 victory over China and a solid 27–23 win against Saudi Arabia.

The top two teams from this Asian championship will represent the continent at the first-ever U-17 World Championship, scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 24 to November 1.
