Bishkek: Team Qatar wrestler Shaheen Eidimohammad secured the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Wrestling Championships in Kyrgyzstan after defeating Iran’s Mohammad Hosseini in the 82kg final, delivering a strong performance to claim the continental title.
Shaheen produced a consistent campaign on his way to the podium, opening with a solid victory over a Chinese opponent before overcoming the Kazakh champion in the semifinals to advance to the final with confidence. This achievement marks a significant step in his career, having won bronze at last year’s Asian Championships, and now adding a gold medal to further establish his position among Asia’s leading wrestlers.
The result reflects the continued progress of Qatari wrestling and the impact of structured technical development, while also providing added motivation for Team Qatar athletes to pursue further success and represent the nation strongly on the international stage.
