Amman– Qatar’s junior table tennis team produced a remarkable performance at the WTT Youth Contender Tournament in Amman, clinching a total of eight medals across different age categories. The impressive tally included one gold, three silver, and four bronze medals, underscoring the rapid progress of the sport in Qatar and the depth of talent emerging across all age groups.

Racha Loghraibi spearheaded Qatar’s success, capturing the gold medal in the Under-11 category and adding a bronze medal in the Under-13 division after overcoming teammate Alia Elbaz in a spirited contest.

Alia Elbaz, meanwhile, secured the silver medal in the Under-11 event, while Serena Sheikh continued her consistent rise, reaching the Under-13 final to claim a silver medal after an excellent campaign marked by skill and determination.

In the boys’ Under-15 competition, Abdulaziz Al Abdullah showcased his class by advancing to the final, where he fell to Iran’s Mobin Amiri in straight sets to earn a commendable silver medal.

Qatar’s medal presence extended further across categories: Rabeah Al Kuwari clinched a bronze medal in the Under-11 event, exiting in the semifinals against Egypt’s Salah Allam.

In the Under-15 girls’ category, Rokaia Elbaz put together a strong run before bowing out to India’s Ankulika Chakraborty in the semifinals, settling for bronze.

Mubarak Al Qutaiti rounded out Qatar’s tally with a bronze medal in the Under-11 category, following a hard-fought semifinal against Iraq’s Andia Mohammed, who prevailed 3–1.

This collective achievement not only highlights the growing strength of Qatari table tennis, but also reflects the valuable international exposure gained by young athletes competing against strong schools of the sport from Egypt, Iraq, India, and Iran. The experience and confidence acquired in Amman will serve as a solid foundation for future international successes, reinforcing Qatar’s commitment to nurturing talent and achieving excellence in table tennis.
