Team Qatar Shooters Continue Their Dominance with Gold and Silver in Mixed Team Events
Doha: Team Qatar shooters continued their remarkable dominance on the podiums after delivering another commanding performance in the mixed team events at the conclusion of the shooting competitions at the 4th GCC Games – Doha 2026. The Qatari shooters secured two additional medals — one gold and one silver — following thrilling and highly competitive contests at the Lusail International Shooting Complex, once again proving the exceptional technical quality and strong readiness of Qatar’s athletes.
The standout achievement came in the Trap Mixed Team event, where the Qatari duo of Saeed Abu Sharib and Maytha Al Binali claimed the gold medal after a superb display of precision and consistency. The pair topped the qualification round with a total of 139 targets before continuing their impressive performance in the final to secure first place with 31 targets. They finished ahead of the UAE team, which claimed silver with 29 targets, while Bahrain secured bronze with 22 targets.
In the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, Team Qatar shooters claimed the silver medal following a dramatic contest that went down to the final moments. The Qatari duo of gold medallist Doaa Habib, who scored 233.7 points, and Khalid Al Shaiba, who recorded 226.0 points, achieved a combined total of 459.7 points, narrowly behind the UAE team, which won gold with 461.0 points. Oman secured bronze with a total of 397.7 points.
Following the conclusion of the competitions, H.E. Dr. Mishaal Ibrahim Al Nasr, President of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, alongside Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamkhalaf, Secretary-General of the Oman Olympic Committee, crowned the winners amid celebratory scenes that earned widespread praise from GCC delegations for the outstanding organisation of the tournament.
The archery competitions conclude today, Thursday, at the Lusail International Range,
marking the final events of the shooting programme at the 4th GCC Games. Attention will focus on the decisive finals of the compound bow individual and team events, as well as the Olympic recurve individual and team finals.

Qatar Women’s Volleyball Team Face Hong Kong
Qatar women’s national volleyball team will face Hong Kong today in the third and final round of Group D at the 20th Asian Games – Aichi-Nagoya 2026 – in Japan. Qatar will be looking for victory to bounce back from yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to South Korea in the second round of Group D. The sets ended 25-6, 25-6 and 25-10.Qatar began their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Vietnam.The women’s volleyball competition features 14 teams divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.Qatar women’s volleyball team will be aiming to finish the group stage with a victory and a positive result that builds on the experience gained from their participation in the Asian Games, which provides an important opportunity to compete against continental opposition and gain further experience for the future.
