NATIONS PARTICIPATED
Qatar hosted the FIFA Club World Cup in two consecutive editions, in December 2019 and February 2021 (the 2020 edition). Each brought together the continental champion clubs and the host nation's representative. Both were staged as test events ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
The tournaments were played as knockouts of eight matches each, with 7 clubs in 2019 and 6 in 2020. The 2019 edition drew a total attendance of about 166,000. Matches were held at four stadiums across Doha and Al Rayyan.
Liverpool won the 2019 edition, beating Flamengo 1-0 after extra time on a Roberto Firmino goal. Mohamed Salah was named the best player of that tournament. Bayern Munich won the 2020 edition, beating Tigres UANL 1-0 to complete a sweep of every competition they entered that year.
