QatarHandball Association
Since 1978, the Qatar Handball Association has built one of Asia’s strongest team-sport programmes, highlighted by Qatar’s run to the 2015 World Championship final in Doha as the first non-European finalist. Its record is also defined by sustained Asian titles and consecutive Asian Games gold medals.

Overview
The association was established in 1978 and joined the international, Asian, and Olympic structures in the same year. From that foundation, it developed domestic competitions, national teams, and technical programmes supported by major venues such as Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena and Lusail Multipurpose Hall.
The appointment of Valero Rivera in 2013 transformed the national team. Within one year, Qatar won its first Asian title and first Asian Games gold, then reached the 2015 World Championship final on home soil. The team has since remained one of the strongest sides outside Europe through repeated Asian titles and Olympic appearances.
The current focus is to sustain that level through youth development, women’s handball, and competitive preparation for the Doha 2030 Asian Games.
