DUBAI - Qatar’s Youth Handball National Team made a commanding start to its campaign at the 2026 UAE International Friendly Championship, securing a comprehensive and well-deserved 34–21 victory over their Omani counterparts in the opening round of the tournament, currently being held at Al Ahli Youth Club in Dubai.
Team Qatar asserted complete control from the opening whistle, showcasing outstanding defensive organization, rapid transitions, and clinical attacking efficiency. Their dominance was reflected on the scoreboard as they headed into halftime with a comfortable 18–10 advantage.
Qatar maintained the same intensity after the break, combining physical superiority with tactical discipline to keep Oman at bay. Despite repeated attempts by the Omani side to reduce the deficit, the determination and consistency of the Qatari players enabled them to extend their lead steadily before sealing an emphatic 34–21 triumph.
Qatar’s participation in the championship forms an integral part of the national team's ongoing preparation program, with the international friendly tournament serving as one of the most significant stages in their build-up to the upcoming Asian Youth Handball Championship in China, which also serves as the qualifying event for the 2027 IHF Men's Youth World Championship in North Macedonia.
