Team Qatar eyes glory in GCC U-16 Basketball Championship
DOHA - Qatar Junior basketball team all set to begin campaign in the GCC U16 Basketball Championship 2023 , which will run from 25th to 31st of July in Saudi Arabia.
Team Qatar will shake hands with Bahrain counterparts on July 25, before put best effort against Kuwait and hosts Saudi Arabia in a row.
The week-long event will bring together four teams, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. It is a qualifying tournament to FIBA U16 Asian Basketball Championship 2023.
Qatar reach Youth Table Tennis Championship Quarterfinals
DOHA – Team Qatar paddlers have produced a solid performance Tuesday to beat Jordan and booked spot in the quarterfinals of the 27th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship 2023, which is running at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall until July 22.
Hosts Qatar consists of Sultan Khalid Al Kuwari, Rawad Al Nasser and Ahmed Al Qarni and Yousef Abdulzaher got better of Jordan 3-0 and lost to China 3-0.
The week-long event is bringing together 213 athletes from 24 nations, who are competing in different classes for top honors.
Qatar 3x3 basketball team return home to a warm welcome
Doha: The delegation of Qatar 3x3 basketball team returned home to a warm welcome on Monday after claiming the bronze medal at the 15th Arab Games – Algeria 2023.
The Qatari delegation was received at the Hamad International Airport by the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) President Mohammed Saad Al Mughaiseeb with attendance of the QOC First Vice President H.E. Mohamed bin Yousef Al Mana, the QBF Secretary General Mohamed Saadoun Al Kuwari and the QBF Assistant Secretary General Nasser Al Kaabi.
Qatar Squad: Mohamed Abasheer, Mubarak Jama, Ahmed Saeed and Omar Saad.
Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship kicks off
DOHA – The competitions of the 27th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship got underway at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall on Monday.
In Day one competitions, Thailand outclassed South Korea 3-0 , while Japan defeated Sri Lanka 3-0.
In group C games, India got better of Philippines 3-0 as China edged out Uzbekistan 3-0.
Kuwait, Oman and Jordan have suffered defeats in the opening days at the hands of Hong Kong and Japan.

Team Qatar for World Beach Handball Tour in Poland
DOHA, Qatar - Qatar’s beach handball team will participate in the third phase of the World Beach Handball Tour to be held on Saturday and Sunday in Poland.
Qatar, Croatia, Denmark and Poland are participating in this stage.
Qatar will meet Poland on Saturday (July 22) and then face Denmark the same day and play Croatia on Sunday (July 23). Qatar had won the 2024 World Championship Qualifiers in Bali, Indonesia, last March, for a sixth time after 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
Team Qatar sign off Asian Athletics Championship with four medals
Bangkok, Thailand - Qatar athletics team finished its participation in the 25th Asian Championship by attaining fifth place in the overall standings, with four medals: two gold, one silver and one bronze.
Held in Bangkok, the tournament concluded with the participation of 41 countries competing for the colored medals and obtaining cards that qualify for the World Championship in Hungary in August.
Qatar's medals were won by Bassem Hemeida, who claimed the gold of the 400m hurdles, Abu Bakr Abdullah, who won the gold of the 800m race, Yasser Salem, who won the silver of the 1500m race, and the 4x400m relay team, which won bronze at the end of the championship.
Japanese team topped the championship standings with 37 medals: 16 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze, followed by Chinese team in second place with 22 medals: 8 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze, and Indian team in third place with 27 medals: 6 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze.
HE President of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad expressed his happiness at the success of the tournament in terms of the number of participation and achievements at the field and track levels, pointed to the great capabilities shown by the continent's athletes in competing for medals and qualifying for the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
He praised the distinguished organization of the tournament in administrative and technical aspects, and said that he had never doubted the capabilities of the Kingdom of Thailand in organizing the tournament that coincided with the celebration of the AAA's fiftieth anniversary of its founding.
Al Hamad thanked Thai officials for their support and their great interest in the championship, considering this as a sign of appreciation for athletics and their keenness to expand its base at the generational level.
