Team Qatar shine at Asian Senior Men’s Beach Volleyball Championship
Bandar Abbas- The 2022 edition of Asian Senior Men’s Beach Volleyball Championship got underway in Bandar Abbas, Iran on Monday.
Team Qatar began their campaign at the continent’s five-day topflight competition on high note as Qatar's Abdallah Nassim and Mohamed Ihab defeated Japan's Takahashi and Furuta 2-0 while Saif Al Majid, Mahmoud Essam overpowered Naresh and Raju of India 2-0.
On the other hand, Qatari stars Cherif Younousse/Ahmed Tijan, current No.4 in the FIVB world ranking, bronze medallists at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and winners at the 2018 Asian Games in Palembang, Indonesia, will begin their campaign in the event on Tuesday when they take on Wang Y. W. and Ch. W. Zhou of China.
A strong field of 29 teams from 11 countries are testing their mettle in this championship to vie for top honour. They comprise 4 teams from hosts Iran, 3 teams each from Australia, Qatar, China, Thailand, Japan and Kazakhstan, 2 teams apiece from Oman, Indonesia and Hong Kong China and one team from India.
Australia had already captured 5 Asian Championship titles, with reigning champions Christopher McHugh/Paul Burnett going all-out in an effort of stretching it to 6 for the powerhouses. Indonesia claimed 4 titles and China 3, with Iran, Qatar and New Zealand winning 2 apiece. Kazakhstan netted one title.
Team Qatar off to Jordan for Women’s West Asian Volleyball Championship
DOHA – Qatar’s women volleyball team delegation left Doha to Jordan’s capital city of Amman to participate in 2022 Women’s West Asian Volleyball Championship, which will run from November 13 to 24.
Team Qatar will shake hands with United Arab Emirates on Tuesday in the preliminary stage of the event, followed by a second game against Kuwait on November 16 and will end their group third game against hosts Jordan on November 17.
Most notably, team Qatar are placed in pool B with Oman, Kuwait, UAE and hosts Jordan, as pool A, includes Palestine, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Syria.
Qatar to take on Saudi Arabia in WAFF U-23 Championship Final
JEDDAH – Team Qatar will shake hands with hosts Saudi Arabia in the final clash of 2022 West Asia U23 Football Championship at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Jeddah on Tuesday.
Most notably, Team Qatar reached the final of West Asia U23 Football Championship after beating Syria 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals game, following a 0-0 draw at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium on Saturday.
Likewise, hosts Saudi Arabia have reached the final of the 2022 West Asian Football Federation U-23 Championship following a 2-1 comeback victory over Oman on Saturday.
QOC launches Team Qatar X Baby Elephant collection
Doha- The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has launched a new eco-friendly collection of Team Qatar kits which were produced by the QOC in cooperation with Baby Elephant Organic Wear last Friday and Saturday at the Gate Mall.
This cooperation with the Qatari company, which produces 100% organic cotton clothing, comes in light with the QOC's commitment to sustainability as environmental development is one of the major pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The new stylish collection has been chosen to suit the daily style of modern life for all age groups and for both genders and bears team Qatar brand.
The QOC Marketing and Communications Director Sheikha Asma Al Thani, said: "The QOC believes that sustainability is our duty towards future generations, so we will be always keen to launch new eco-friendly projects which help achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030"
"The QOC has launched its unique Team Qatar X Baby Elephant eco-friendly collection in line of collaboration with local Qatari brands and designers and to contribute in supporting the local markets.” Sheikha Asma added.

Qatar selected to host 85th FIG Congress by global gymnastics family
Istanbul- Qatar has been awarded the honour of hosting the global gymnastics family for the 85th International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Congress in 2024.
The decision on Doha as a host city was taken today by delegates at the 84th FIG Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, receiving 148 votes against 89 votes to Croatia. In a presentation to delegates, Qatar's bid team highlighted why Doha would be the perfect host, including its proven track-record in successfully delivering international events, stunning cultural highlights and world-renowned hospitality.
FIG First Vice President and QGF President Ali Al-Hitmi said:
“This is a very proud moment for the gymnastics and sports community in Qatar, and we are honoured to have been awarded this prestigious gathering by our fellow National Federations. We are excited to welcome the FIG family to experience the friendliest of welcomes and all that Doha has to offer.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Qatar Olympic Committee under the leadership of H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and the QOC Secretary General H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain for their unlimited support to Gymnastics. Doha has previously hosted a number of international gymnastics events, the most recent of which include the 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and 2022 Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Sanchez names Qatar squad for World Cup
Doha: Qatar's coach Felix Sanchez on Friday announced 26-member Qatar squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The tournament hosts are playing at the World Cup for the first time and face Ecuador in the opening match on November 20. Qatar will also meet Senegal and the Netherlands in Group A.
