Al Rayyan crowned HH the Amir Volleyball Cup Champions
Doha-QNA) - Al-Rayyan team won the volleyball championship of HH the Amir Cup for the 2020-2021 sports season, after its victory this evening over Al-Arabi by three sets of two halves in the final match that was held at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall.
After the match, HE First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al-Thani, accompanied by President of the Qatar Volleyball Association, Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, to hand Al-Rayyan the championship cup, gold medals, and a prize of QR 500,000, while Al-Arabi team, the second, were handed silver medals and a prize of QR 300,000.
The match was exciting and strong between the two teams, as it witnessed an exciting competition between both teams for the title which Al Arabi were title holders going into the match.
The President of the Qatar Volleyball Association Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, praised the performance of the two teams in today's match and the high technical level, and praised Al-Rayyan team's victory in the title, which it decided today after its victory over Al-Arabi with a score of (2/3) after a strong match from the two teams.
Al-Kuwari indicated in a press statement after the end of today's match, that Al-Rayyan team presented an advanced level during the tournament, and was able to obtain the title thanks to the good performance, although the competition for the title was not easy in light of the fierce competition from the rest of the teams that were seeking to win the title.
Al-Kuwari added that the competition was strong and exciting, and a number of clubs appeared at distinguished levels, noting that the 2020-2021 season was exceptional in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. He also expected that the next season 2021-2022 will witness great competition between clubs for the sake of winning titles.
For his part, Al Rayyan player Mubarak Dahi said after the end of the match, I congratulate all the team members, and that the victory came after a strong match, which came at the end of the season, which is one of the longest seasons due to Covid-19, and that the team succeeded in achieving the most expensive local tournaments for Qatari volleyball .
Camilo Soto, coach of Al Rayyan team, also expressed his happiness with the victory and the performance of the team that succeeded in achieving victory despite being late in the first round of the match, indicating that the match was strong between the two teams and presented a wonderful match in its technical level and there was a convergence in performance. Qatar Anti-Doping Commission launches its new brand
The Qatar Anti-Doping Commission(QADC ) has launched its new brand as of 2020-2021 sports season.
The new brand comes in light of the new phase in the QADC history after restructuring its board of directors to include HE Dr. Abdulwahab Al Musleh as a president and Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Mohamed as a vice president in addition to the other members; Dr. Enas Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Moza Sulaiman Al Hail, Dr. Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Emadi, Mr. Mubarak Mohamed Al Ali and Brigadier Abdulaziz Ali Al Sulaiti .
Moreover, the QADC includes some other standing bodies such as appeal committee under the leadership of Sheikh Thani bin Ali Al Thani, Hearing Committee under the leadership of Dr. Ghada Darwish Karbon and Therapeutic Use Exemptions Committee under the leadership of Dr. Omar Al Sairafi.
The idea of the new brand is centered around athlete who is the cornerstone of sports in general. The athlete in the new brand carries a purple sea lavender flower, which is one of the most famous flowers in the Qatari environment. The brand also includes pure environmental components, as the design of aims at promoting the concept of clean sport where every athlete has to strive for glory depending on his effort, persistence and integrity.
On this occasion, HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani said:
"The Qatar Olympic Committee is keen to support to the QADC in this regard to achieve the goals for which it was established. With the intensity of competition, some athletes may use stimulant drugs and depend on illegal methods to achieve a false glory and gain an unworthy title"
"Today, the State of Qatar is one of the leading nations in the fight against Doping, so it has become a major destination for those who are interested in the sport. "
For his part, HE QADC President Dr. Abdulwahab Al Musleh thanked HE QOC President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani for his unlimited support to the QADC.
He also stressed that the QADC will always try to improve its performance thanks to the continuous support from the State of Qatar and the Qatar Olympic Committee in order to meet Qatar's national and international commitments and to promote a competitive, clean and doping-free sports environment.
Brand Description
The new brand includes some basic elements that link athletes with the environment around him as athlete is the most important element in the new brand. The surrounding environment is represented by the sea lavender flower which grows in the coastal areas.
The main idea of the brand highlights team Qatar athletes who are the cornerstone of Qatari sport. The athlete carries a sea lavender flower which can by found in the Qatari beaches.
The new slogan "Play Pure" was written to look like waves which is one of the main elements in the Qatari environment.
Brand Colors
The colors of the brand reflect the colors of nature, environment and team Qatar, but we also selected three other environmental colors including blue, yellow and purple. The blue color reflects the purity of the sky while purple color represents optimism. The yellow color refers to sand and sun which provides us with life, health and strength.
Schools Olympic Program kicks off
Doha-The 14th edition of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) began yesterday with a virtual marathon for students of secondary, preparatory, and primary schools.
The SOP, a prestigious national sports program, is held annually by the Qatar School Sports Association in cooperation with the Qatar Olympic Committee and Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
To keep students safe, the SOP organizing committee decided to hold the competitions of this edition virtually through " STRAVA" application.
It's worth mentioning that the first edition this national program was held during 2007-2008 academic years under the theme of "Sport and Health".
The SOP aims to promote a culture of sport among students and engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
QOC Secretary-General meets Vice-President of Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee
Doha-(QNA) - HE Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain met with HH Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaid, who is currently visitingDoha to attend the Purebred Arabian Camel Festival for the Sword of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of Olympic cooperation and ways of enhancing and promoting it.
HH Prince Fahd thanked the officials of the Olympic Movement in the State of Qatar, stressing the strength of the relationship between the Saudi and Qatari Olympic committees.
On the other hand, HH the Vice-President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee visited yesterday the headquarters of Qatar Olympic Academy in Al-Gharrafa where he was briefed about the programs, the activities and courses offered by theAcademy, in addition to the means of training and the agenda of training courses it provides.
HH Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz toured the Academy and viewed its specialized halls equipped with the latest educational tools that provide the ideal environment for learners to receive various sciences in the best educational atmosphere,in addition to the library of the Academy which contains more than 6500 books, references and sources.
The visit also included a detailed explanation of the logo and brand of Qatar Olympic Academy and the vision it carries, in addition to an introductory presentation on its objectives, programs and courses that were held during the pastperiod, and a review of its future programs and plans. (QNA)
QOC President Meets UK Ambassador to Doha
DOHA, His Excellency, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee met at his office on Tuesday Mr. Jonathan Paul Wilks, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the State of Qatar.
During the meeting, HE Sheikh Joaan lauded the good bilateral relations between Qatar and UK. As both officials reviewed the sport cooperation between the two countries and the means to further enhance them in the future.
The meeting was also attended by HE Jassim Rashid Al-Buenain, the Secretary- General of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
Qatar hold Republic of Ireland to 1-1 draw in European Qualifiers
Debrecen-Qatar produced a spirited performance against Republic of Ireland to draw 1-1 in the European Zone FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers at the Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen, Hungary, on Tuesday.
Mohamed Muntari scored the equaliser for Qatar after James McClean had given Ireland an early lead.
Team Qatar, who are preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2022, defeated Luxembourg and Azerbaijan as an invited team in Group A of the European Qualifiers.
Qatar began their European sojourn with a 1-0 victory over 10-man Luxembourg last Tuesday, thanks to Mohammed Muntari’s 12th minute strike before coming back from a goal down to defeat Azerbaijan 2-1 through a Hassan Al Haydos double.
