Qatar announces completion of Education City Stadium
Doha, June 16, 2020-(QNA) - The State of Qatar
announced Monday the completion of Education City stadium, the 3rd tournament
venue for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in a digital coverage on the Supreme
Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) official social media accounts. HH the
Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani gave a speech to mark the occasion.The celebrations confirm that the SC is
committed to its timeline despite current conditions and the precautionary
measures taken in the State of Qatar. Located in the heart of Education City
Qatars education, research and innovation hub the 40,000-capacity Education
City Stadium is slated to host matches up to the quarter-finals stage during
the tournament.The completion of Education City Stadium is yet
another milestone as we inch ever closer to the first FIFA World Cup in the
Middle East and Arab world,:" FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Chairman and
Secretary-General of the SC Hassan Al Thawadi said."Launching the stadium now while the
world is overcoming the coronavirus pandemic shows everyone that there is light
at the end of the tunnel and brighter days ahead. We are proud to pay tribute
to the frontline workers who remain at the forefront in the battle against
COVID-19 and look forward to bringing the world together at this stadium and

stadium, following the successful redevelopment of Khalifa International
Stadium in 2017 and the inauguration of Al Janoub Stadium last year.""All of our projects remain on track

more between now and the big kick-off on 21 November 2022, including the
completion of two more stadiums before the end of this year the 40,000-capacity

QOC Continues to Hold Virtual Sports Activities
Doha, June 17, 2020 - The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) holds virtual sports activities and various events through its social media platforms, as it will organize various programs over four weeks.Each week, a different virtual competition will be held in addition to an activity (sporting or social) that contributes to linking the followers locally and globally with QOC's social media accounts. Also, the training session providedby Qatar's stars in various sports from home to maintain fitness during the home quarantine.QOC's social media accounts are concerned with motivating the public and followers to share their sports activities from home to maintain fitness through short video clips.Virtual competitions will be held in cycling and running for a distance of 5 and 10 km and online games (FIFA) in addition to the age-group competitions for children in running, arts, drawing, and yoga.A total of USD30,000 in cash prizes were allocated to the participants in all activities and races in addition to the in-kind prizes.The QOC aims, through the organizing of these virtual events and sporting activities, to encourage the public and the followers to practice sporting activities at home, follow the quarantine policy, commit to avoiding social gatheringsduring this period, and maintain physical and psychological health, through individual sport.

Qatar Olympic Academy announces June Agenda
Doha, June 01, 2020-The Qatar Olympic Academy has announced the calendar of its courses for June 2020, which includes three different courses, in addition to the sixth semester of the Master of Sports Law. June program will begin with a course of management and organization of sporting events on June 8, then a course of Modern management in sports institutions, which lasts for ten days . The June courses will be concluded with the re-creation of a crisis and risk management course in sporting events, which was launched last April .
QOC President attends Olympic Refuge Foundation Annual Board meeting
Doha, May 19, 2020- The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani today attended the Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF) Annual Board Meeting by videoconference to discuss the progress of the ORF over the last year and the priorities for the year ahead.The ORF made good progress in 2019 and launched a number of new programmes to support those in need. The ORF also played a critical role in coordinating the formation of a sport coalition of refugees ahead of the Global Refugee Forum.During the meeting, the Board also discussed the priorities for 2020 and the adjustments that need to be made in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The ORF aims to develop activities that ensure the protection of young refugees affected by the COVID-19 crisis, with a focus on the use of sport and promotion of staying active and staying health.
QOC Announces Resumption of Sporting Activities After July 20
Doha, May 17, 2020- The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) today announced that it has extended the suspension of all local sports activities till July 20, 2020. The remaining activities from the 2019-2020 sporting calendar will be resumed after that date.The QOC said in a statement today that the decision came in line with the protective measures taken by the State of Qatar to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.
