Bahrain defeat Qatar in GCC Basketball Championship
KUWAIT, November 25 , 2019 – Team Qatar suffered a narrow 61-69 defeat at the hands of Bahrain in the 16th GCC basketball Championship 2019 at Kuwait SC arena on Sunday.Both teams displayed impressive performance in the second round, but the victory went to the Bahrain side.The week- long championship is bringing together five GCC countries, including Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain and hosts Kuwait.
Coach Sanchez Names Qatar Squad for Arabian Gulf Cup
Doha, November 25, 2019 - Coach Felix Sanchez on Sunday named the Qatar squad for 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, which starts on Tuesday in Doha and lasts until December 8.Squad: Saad Al Sheeb, Pedro Miguel, Salem Al Hajri, Tariq Salman Suleiman, Bualem Khoukhi, Hassan Khaled Al Haydos, Akram Afif (Al Sadd), Bassam Hisham Al Rawi, Almoez Ali, Karim Boudiaf, Almoaz Ali, Ismail Mohammed, Mohammed Muntari (Al Duhail), Ahmed Fathi, Youssef Abdel Razzaq, Mohamed Salah El Nil, Fahd Shanin and Musab Khader (Al Arabi), Abdul Aziz Hatem and Fahd Younis (Al Rayyan), Mahdi Ali (Al Gharafa), Abdullah Al Ahrq (Al Ahli), and Mohammed Al Bakri (Al Shahaniya).Qatar start their campaign on Tuesday against Iraq at Khalifa International Stadium.
Team Qatar finish second in GCC Tennis Championship
Manama, November 22, 2019-Qatar's junior tennis team claimed the second place at the GCC Tennis Championship Under 14 & 18 years held in Manama, Bahrain with participation of all GCC nations.The Qatari team began their campaign in the championship with a 3-0 victory over hosts Bahrain on Monday then they defeated Oman 2-1 and Saudi Arabia 2-1 before going down fighting against Kuwait on Thursday.Qatar's challenge at the championship was led by 4 players including Nasser Al Yafei, Ali Saadi, Meshaal Al Khenji and Sultan Al Malki.Tariq Zainal, Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation congratulated the players on taking the second place lauding the level they have shown during the tournament.
QOC hosts entertainment day for people with special needs
Doha, November 22, 2019-The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) in collaboration with the Qatar Paralympic Committee organised the 13th Entertainment Day for people with special needs at the Qatar Sport Club yesterday.The event, which was attended by the QOC Secretary General HE Mr. Jassim Al Buenain and a number of officials from the QOC and the Qatar Paralympic Committee, featured some sports and entertainment activities dedicated to people with mental, vision and motor disabilities, including barrier races, athletics and leisure events.Participants included a number of centers for people with special needs including Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs' female education and rehabilitation centre, Noor Institute for the Blind, Doha International Centre for Special Needs, and Al Tamakon School for Comprehensive Education.Entertainment Day aims to raise the level of awareness for people with disabilities by giving them an opportunity to express their skills and capacities by participating in several sporting events.

Manama, November 21, 2019-Qatar's junior tennis team defeated Oman on Wednesday in their second match at the GCC Tennis Championship Under 14 & 18 years.The event is held in Manama, Bahrain until November 21.Ahmed Al Obaidli chairs Qatar's delegation to the event as the state of Qatar is represented by 4 players including Nasser Al Yafei, Ali Saadi, Meshaal Al Khenji and Sultan Al Malki.
QOC to organize third edition of Team Qatar Flag Relay
Doha, November 21, 2019-The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) will organize the third edition of Team Flag Relay on Friday, December 13 to share pride, unity and inspiration through Team Qatar in celebration of this year's Qatar National Day (QND).Present and retired athletes, schoolchildren, community members and the general public will have the opportunity to carry the Qatari flag across the country's iconic landmarks as this year's flag relay will begin from the QOC Headquarters, travelling along the Corniche to Qatar Foundation, Katara before the grand finale at Hamad International Airport.The QOC's challenge this year is to have more than 5000 participants raising the flag as the registration to participate in the event will be opened soon through the QOC social media accounts.The second edition of team Qatar flag relay brought together more than 1500 participants including present and retired athletes, ambassadors and 800 students who have covered more than 300km across Qatar via multiple sporting activities, including cycling, running and swimming reflecting the strength and depth of Team Qatar's athletes.
