QOC Electronic Games see overwhelming success
DOHA, September 15 , 2019 - The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has organized the 13th edition of Electronic Games Tournament (FIFA 2019) at Sports Cormer Tawar Mall in Doha on Saturday.The QOC's Secretary General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain attended a part of these prestigious games took place at Sports Cormer Tawar Mall .In the senior category, Yousef Al Darwish claimed the first place and prize money of QR 7000, the second place went to Rashid Abdurrahman who earned QR 5000, while Jassim Al Eid seized the third place and QR 3000.In the junior category, Tamim Ibrahim Al Hour won the first place (QR 3000 coupon), Ahmed Alaa El Deen won second place and ( QR 2000 coupon) and the third place went to Abdurrahman Emad with (QR 1000 coupon).Mr. Khaleel Al Jaber, Director of sport affairs department at QOC, Mr. Jaber Saleh Al Mosallem, Chairman of The Blue Group , Nasser Al Mudahka, Head of sport activities and programs section at the QOC and Mr. Barbaros Akyildiz Managing Director of The Blue Group crowned the winners respectively.The 13th edition of the FIFA 2019 electronic games tournament, which was held by the knockout system, saw a massive turnout of around 160 players.The QOC organizes the electronic games tournament every year as part of its activities within the community activities plan in an effort to increase the participation of the community in sport and entertainment activities. The first edition of the tournament was held in 2007.
Qatar lose to Iran in Asian Volleyball Championship
Tehran, September 15, 2019- The Qatari volleyball team lost to their Iranian counterparts in straight sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-17) in their second match at the 2019 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship on Saturday.The event is held in Tehran, Iran from September 13 to 21.Top eight teams of this tournament will qualify for the 2020 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament, which will be held in Jiangmen, China from 7 to 12 January 2020, where the winners will qualify to the 2020 men's Olympic volleyball tournament.Qatar will take on Sri Lanka in their next match on Sunday.
Qatar lose to Australia in Asian Volleyball Championship
Tehran, September 14, 2019-Qatar lost to Australia 3-2 (25–23, 25–21, 23–25, 18–25, 15–10) in their first match Pool A of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship in Iran, Tehran, on Friday.Qatar, coached by Camilo Soto, came back strongly after losing the first to sets to tie the game at 2-2, but in the deciding fifth set, they lost their momentum and lost 10-15.In another match in the pool, Iran blanked Sri Lanka 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23).Qatar take on Iran in their next match on Saturday.
Team Qatar prepare for FINA World Cup Fourth Round
DOHA, September 13, 2019 – Qatar's swimmers continued their intensive training sessions on Thursday in preparation for the fourth round of FINA World Cup to be held from 4-6 October in Hungary's capital of Budapest.Qatar's Swimmers Mohammed Fahad and Abdurrahman Hisham will compete in the fourth round in Budapest, while their teammates Tamim Al Hamaydah and Yousef Asharaf will take part in the fifth round which scheduled from 11-13 October in Berlin, Germany .On other hand, Swimmers Omar Asharaf , Kareem Salah and Abdullah Al Khaledy will compete in the fifth round from 1-3 November in Russia's city of KazanThis year's FINA World Cup Series includes seven rounds, with the fourth round scheduled to take place in Budapest on October 4-6, the fifth round in Berlin on October 11-13, the sixth round in Kazan on November 1-3, and the seventh and final round takes place in Doha on November 7-9.The seven rounds can help qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.Doha has been hosting one of the rounds of the FINA World Cup Series annually since 2012.
Team Qatar to participate in World Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan
Doha, September 13, 2019- The Qatari wrestling team left yesterday to participate in the 2019 World Wrestling Championships to be held in Kazakhstan from September 14 to 22. The event will serve as a qualification tournament for the 2020 Summer Tokyo Olympics.The Qatari team will participate with two players, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, (70 kg) in freestyle wrestling and Bader Bakhit Sharif, (77 kg) in Greco-Roman wrestling.The President of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation (QBWF) Yousuf Ali Al Kazim confirmed that the Qatari wrestlers are ready to compete in the tournament, as they aim at winning medals and securing their spots in 2020 Summer Tokyo Olympics.
Qatar to take on Australia in Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship
Tehran, September 13, 2019- The Qatari volleyball team will take on their Australian counterparts in the beginning of their campaign at the 2019 Men's Volleyball Championship to be held in Tehrah, Iran from September 13 to 21.Team Qatar are placed alongside Iran, Sri Lanka and Australia in a tough Pool A at the Asian Championship, and they face a stern challenge as only the top eight teams will qualify for the 2020 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament.Qatar squad: Mubarak Dahi, Ahmed Jamal, Ibrahim Saeed, Bilal Abunbout, Othman Abdel Wahed, Nader Abu Bakr, Mahmoud Essam, Renan, Khaled Shamia, Mahdi Badreddine, Milos, Sultan Abdullah, Sami Mahmoud, Suleiman Saeed, Naji Mahmoud.
