Established in 1994, the Qatar Paralympic Committee serves as the official body responsible for the development and governance of sports for people with disabilities in the State of Qatar. Operating in alignment with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the committee aims to empower athletes with disabilities by providing them with equal access to high-performance training, competition opportunities, and pathways to elite sport.
The committee oversees a wide range of Paralympic disciplines, including athletics, swimming, table tennis, goalball, powerlifting, boccia, and wheelchair basketball. Qatari para-athletes have delivered remarkable achievements on the international stage — most notably Abdulrahman Abdulqader, who won a silver medal in shot put at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, and represented Qatar again at Tokyo 2020, along with other athletes in various categories.
Domestically, the committee organizes national championships and talent identification programs in collaboration with schools, rehabilitation centers, and medical institutions. It also provides training and certification for coaches, referees, and technical staff to build a sustainable support system for para-sports across the country.

The Qatar Handball Association (QHA) was established in 1978 and joined both the Asian and International Handball Federations that same year. It serves as the official governing body for handball in Qatar, overseeing national competitions across all age groups, managing national teams, and developing technical and administrative personnel in coordination with international and continental bodies.
Qatar has emerged as a powerhouse in Asian and global handball, achieving a historic milestone by finishing runner-up at the 2015 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship, the best result ever by an Arab or Asian nation. The national team has also dominated the Asian Men’s Championship, winning five consecutive titles (2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022), and continues to participate regularly in the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
On the club level, Qatari teams such as Al Duhail and Al Arabi have excelled in the Asian Club League, claiming multiple continental titles. The QHA places a strong focus on youth development, school partnerships, and increasing women’s participation in the sport.
Qatar has also become a prominent host of major international events, including:

Established in 1994, the Qatar Gymnastics Federation is one of the country’s most dynamic sports bodies, having made significant strides in developing gymnastics locally and internationally. The federation oversees all disciplines recognized by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), including artistic gymnastics for men and women, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline.
With a strong focus on grassroots development, the federation has launched nationwide talent identification programs in schools and sports centers. These efforts have led to the rise of a new generation of Qatari gymnasts, most notably Rakan Al-Hareth, a standout athlete in men’s artistic gymnastics and one of Qatar’s leading national team members in regional and international competitions. Other promising names include Faraj Al-Emadi and veteran gymnast Ahmed Al-Naama, who have represented Qatar across Gulf and Asian events. In rhythmic gymnastics, Jouri Al-Shamlan and Maria Jamal continue to shine as emerging talents, earning recognition in Arab-level tournaments.
On the organizational front, the federation has positioned Qatar as a global hub for gymnastics by hosting top-tier events such as the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Doha 2018 and the FIG World Cup Series, held annually since 2008. The federation remains committed to nurturing elite Qatari gymnasts and advancing technical excellence across all levels — from youth development to Olympic representation.
