IOC Recognizes QOC for Support of “Giving is Winning” Campaign

On July 23, 2012, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) paid tribute to the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) for its valuable contribution to the “Giving is Winning” campaign in the lead-up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The initiative aimed to collect over 100,000 pieces of sportswear and casual clothing for refugees and displaced individuals living in UNHCR camps across the globe. Thanks to global efforts, the campaign successfully gathered 75,000 clothing items, with the QOC playing a key role in supporting this humanitarian cause.

QOC Wins Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award for Hosting Doha 2011 Arab Games

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) was awarded the prestigious Creative Sports Award by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in recognition of its successful hosting of the Doha 2011 Arab Games.

The winners were celebrated during a grand awards ceremony attended by prominent local and international sports leaders and dignitaries, highlighting QOC’s excellence in organizing major regional sporting events.

QOC’s Schools Olympic Program Wins Prestigious Sport Creativity Award

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) received high recognition when its innovative Schools Olympic Program (SOP) was awarded the Sport Creativity Award by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award in Dubai.

The SOP was launched as a groundbreaking initiative inspired by H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and Chairman of the QOC. It aims to integrate sports into the educational system and promote physical activity as a fundamental part of students’ daily lives, fostering a culture of sport and healthy living among youth.

Sheikh Joaan Honored with Prestigious Awards at ANOC Awards 2019

DOHA, October 18, 2019 – H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), was presented with the prestigious Award for Contribution to the Olympic Movement by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) during the ANOC Awards 2019.

In addition to this honor, Sheikh Joaan was also awarded the ANOC Merit Award earlier the same day. The sixth edition of the annual ANOC Awards was held at Katara Cultural Village in Doha, as part of the XXIV ANOC General Assembly.

Sheikh Joaan was selected for the award by an ANOC jury composed of the presidents of the continental associations, representatives from the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), and members of the ANOC Athletes' Commission.

Expressing his gratitude, Sheikh Joaan said, “I would like to thank my colleagues in the Qatar Olympic Committee and the local organizing committees for all the competitions we have helped deliver. Thank you to IOC President Thomas Bach and Acting ANOC President Robin Mitchell—this award belongs to all of you as well.”
