Qatar Sailing & Rowing Federation

a

The Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation builds on the country’s maritime heritage and the long history of Doha Sailing Club. Its record includes hosting all sailing events at the Doha 2006 Asian Games and preparing both sailing and rowing for Doha 2030.

Federation
Overview

The federation was officially formed in 2003, while organized sailing in Qatar dates back to Doha Sailing Club in 1956. Its work connects World Sailing, World Rowing, and canoeing structures with year-round local programmes.

Qatar hosted all sailing competitions at the 2006 Asian Games, with 168 athletes from 19 countries. Waleed Al Sharshani’s silver in Laser 4.7 added a competitive highlight to that hosting legacy.

The federation is working to expand training pathways and prepare athletes for sailing and rowing competitions at the 2030 Asian Games.
