Tunisia and Egypt Advance to Round of 16 at FIVB Boys’ U17 World Championship – Doha 2026

Doha: Tunisia and Egypt secured their places in the Round of 16 at the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship – Doha 2026, following Sunday’s group-stage action.

Tunisia finished second in Group A with six points after defeating hosts Qatar 3–0 in the final round, winning 25–15, 25–18 and 25–17.

Qatar concluded their group-stage campaign following matches against Venezuela, France and Tunisia. Their first appearance at the World Championship provided the young squad with valuable international experience and exposure to different styles of play.

In Group C, Brazil maintained their unbeaten run with a 3–0 victory over Argentina (25–19, 25–15, 25–21), taking their tally to eight points and securing top spot. Poland followed with four points, Argentina had three, while Mexico remained without a point.

Egypt also booked their place in the Round of 16 following a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Spain in Group D. The Egyptian side prevailed 25–18, 21–25, 27–25, 19–25 and 15–10 to move to four points, level with Türkiye. Bulgaria led the group with six points and had already secured qualification, while Spain were eliminated.

In Group E, Iran continued their perfect campaign with a third consecutive victory, defeating Chinese Taipei 3–0 (25–15, 25–21, 25–17). Iran moved to nine points from three matches, while Pakistan stood second with three points, followed by Chinese Taipei with two and Algeria with one.

The remaining Group D and Group E fixtures will be completed on Monday, with Algeria facing Pakistan at the Women’s Sports Hall in Aspire Zone and Türkiye taking on Bulgaria at Al Arabi Sports Club Hall.

Monday’s schedule will also feature several remaining group-stage matches, including France against Venezuela, India against Romania, and Mexico against Poland.

The results will determine the remaining Round of 16 places and the final group standings before the championship moves into the knockout stage, with the final scheduled for August 29.
