Fares Ibrahim claims Two Silver Medals at the World Weightlifting Championships

Manama: Team Qatar Olympic champion Fares Ibrahim has once again showcased his exceptional talent, claiming two silver medals in the 102 kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships currently underway in Manama, Bahrain.  

Building on his historic gold medal win at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Fares lifted a combined total of 399 kg to secure second place. His performance included an impressive 177 kg in the Snatch and 222 kg in the Clean & Jerk.  

The gold medal was narrowly claimed by Kazakhstan’s Artyom Antropov, who lifted a total of 400 kg (173 kg in the Snatch and 230 kg in the Clean & Jerk), edging out Fares by just one kilogram.  

Spain’s Marcos Ruiz earned the bronze medal with a total of 395 kg, comprising 183 kg in the Snatch and 212 kg in the Clean & Jerk.  

The medal ceremony was attended by H.E. Mohamed bin Yousef Al Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Vice President of the International Weightlifting Federation, alongside Jassim Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Qatar Weightlifting Federation.
