Team Qatar claim silver medal of Epee Team Event at U23 Asian Fencing Championships

Kuala Lumpur: The Qatari fencing team captured the silver medal in the epee team competition at the U23 Asian Fencing Championships, currently being held in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. The tournament, which features participation from 18 of the continent's strongest fencing nations, concludes on Sunday.This remarkable result marks a historic milestone for Qatari fencing - the country's first-ever medal in a team event at the Asian level.The Qatari epee team advanced to the final following a series of outstanding performances. They defeated the Philippines 45-35 in the quarterfinals and overcame Thailand 45-40 in the semifinals before narrowly losing to Uzbekistan by a single point, 39-38, in a thrilling final bout.The Qatari delegation included six fencers: in foil, Khaled Aref and Abdullah Khalifa; and in epee, Abdulrahman Al Jadra, Youssef Abdultawab, Mohammed Abdel Ali, and Ali Al Khalif. The team was led by coach Mohammed Rabei.The silver medal reflects the growing progress of Qatari fencing and the success of the Qatar Fencing Federation's ongoing efforts to develop the sport and enhance its competitive standing at the continental and international levels.

Team Qatar secure two silver medals at 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

Manama: Qatar added more medals to its tally at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.In athletics, runner Dana Salem captured silver in the women’s 100m race, clocking 11.60 seconds. Gold went to Emirati sprinter Arwa Ashar with a time of 11.45 seconds, while China’s Xinyi Yan took bronze in 11.79 seconds.Qatar’s show jumping team also won silver with Suhaim Hamad al-Yafei, Amer Hamad al-Mansouri, Mohammed Issa al-Bukhari and Abdulaziz Saud Fakhro delivering an impressive performance to finish second behind Jordan. Saudi Arabia claimed the bronze medal in the team event.Qatar’s overall medal count at the Games now stands at three: one gold and two silver, following Idris Abubaker’s victory in the 110-meter hurdles on Thursday.In beach volleyball, the Qatari duo of Ahmed Ziad and Musa Al-Khair lost to Indonesia in a tightly contested match, 15-21, 21-18, 10-15. Despite the loss, they advanced to the quarter-finals, where they will face Kazakhstan.In golf, Qatar remained in 12th place in the team standings after the second day, while Daniel Sokolov dropped to 22nd individually and Camille Ben Rokia is in 38th place.Meanwhile, the youth volleyball team was eliminated in the quarter-finals after a 0-3 defeat to Chinese Taipei. Qatar is participating in 16 sports at the Games with a delegation of 67 athletes. The disciplines include athletics, badminton, basketball (3x3), equestrian (show jumping), golf, judo, jiu-jitsu, cycling, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, wrestling, volleyball, beach volleyball, and boxing. Female athletes are competing in athletics, badminton, volleyball, and beach volleyball. 

Team Qatar Reache Final of FIP Asia Padel Cup Qatar 2025, to Face UAE in Title Clash

Doha: Team Qatar’s men’s padel team advanced to the final of the FIP Asia Padel Cup Qatar 2025, currently taking place at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, after defeating Iran 2–0 in Thursday’s semifinals.Qatar will face the UAE in the championship final on Friday, after the Emirati team overcame Australia 2–1 in the other semifinal.Earlier, Team Qatar topped Group B in the main round with a perfect record, beating Kuwait (2–1), Pakistan (3–0), and Australia (2–1), collecting six points to lead the group ahead of Australia (5 points), Kuwait (4 points), and Pakistan (3 points).In Group A, the UAE finished first with six points, followed by Iran (5 points), Lebanon (4 points), and Jordan (3 points).In the women’s competition, Iran advanced to the final after defeating Indonesia 2–0 and will meet Japan, who qualified after a 2–1 win over Australia. Curtain comes down on FIP Asia Padel Cup 2025

Doha: The curtain came down today on the inaugural FIP Asia Padel Cup Qatar 2025, organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Badminton, and Padel Federation at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.Team Qatar’s men’s squad claimed the silver medal, finishing runners-up after a hard-fought 2–1 defeat to the UAE in the final. Australia secured third place and the bronze medal with a 2–0 win over Iran in the third-place match.In the women’s competition, Japan clinched the championship title and gold medal after defeating Iran 2–0 in the final. Indonesia earned the bronze medal with a 3–0 win over Australia in the third-place playoff.The awards ceremony took place at the specially prepared padel courts at the Khalifa Complex, in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, marking a successful conclusion to the first edition of the continental event.Qatari player Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari expressed pride in his team’s silver-medal finish, saying:“Reaching the final and earning silver in the first-ever Asian Championship is a great achievement. Padel is still relatively new in Qatar — introduced only about eight years ago — yet we have already made major regional strides and now rank second in Asia.”He also praised the event’s organization, adding:“Qatar once again delivered an exceptional tournament on every level, which reflects its unmatched organizational capabilities.”Teammate Rashed Nawaf said the team had aimed for gold but remained proud of the overall performance:“We were targeting the title, but we fell short in the final against the UAE. Team Qatar claims Silver at the West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship

Muscat — Qatar’s men’s beach volleyball team captured the silver medal at the 4th West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship in Muscat, following a hard-fought final against hosts Oman on Thursday.The Qatari duo , Mahmoud Essam and Saif Abdulmajid, showcased impressive skill and determination throughout the tournament. However, fatigue played a role in the final, as the duo had contested an intense semi-final clash against Bahrain just hours earlier  a match they won in straight sets (21–12, 26–24). Despite their strong start, the Qataris were ultimately edged out by Oman in the title decider.Qatar’s consistent presence on the regional and international stage reflects the Qatar Volleyball Association’s strategic vision to build a competitive national team ahead of the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, scheduled to take place in Australia from November 14 to 23, featuring the world’s top 48 teams.Over recent years, Qatar’s beach volleyball program has achieved remarkable milestones , including a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and a fourth-place finish at Paris 2024 solidifying the nation’s status as one of the emerging powerhouses in global beach volleyball. 

Team Qatar to face Iran in Asian Padel Championship Semi-Finals

DOHA — Qatar’s men’s national padel team will face Iran today Thursday in the semi-finals of the Asian Padel Championship Qatar 2025, currently being held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.Having already secured their place in the last four, Team Qatar continued their impressive run with a third straight victory on Wednesday, overcoming Australia (2–1) in the final round of Group B matches. In the same group, Kuwait defeated Pakistan by the same margin (2–1).Qatar opened their main-draw campaign with a 2–1 win over Kuwait, followed by a 3–0 sweep of Pakistan in the second round. These results placed the hosts firmly at the top of Group B with six points, followed by Australia (5), Kuwait (4), and Pakistan (3).In Group A, the UAE led the standings with six points, ahead of Iran (5), Lebanon (4), and Jordan (3). The UAE will now meet Australia in the other semi-final encounter.In the women’s competition, Japan topped Group A with six points, followed by Iran (5), the UAE (4), and Saudi Arabia (3).
