QOC Beach Games conclude
DOHA - The third edition of the QOC Beach Games 2023, was concluded at the Cultural Village Katara on Friday.
The event featured the participation of more than 800 athletes who competed for top honors in seven beach games including football, volleyball, 3x3 basketball, boxing, karate, swimming and Aquathlon.
The QOC First Vice President H.E. Mohamed bin Yousef Al Mana and the QOC Secretary General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain crowned the winners.
The QOC also honored the sponsors of the event in its third edition including Katara Cultural Village (official partner), Attraction (official sponsor), Vodafone (official sponsor), Elan (official supplier) and LuLu Hypermarket (official supplier).
Al Jasra claimed the title of Men's football event after beating Green Owl 3-2 in the final match while Super Soccer hoisted the trophy of women's event following their 6-4 victory over Al Malek Team.
In Men's Beach Volleyball Event, Police Sport Association edged past F 45 to win the title. Edge Fitness took the third place after beating Al Dafna 2-0.
In Women's Beach Volleyball event, F 45 defeated Edge Fitness to take the first place while Super Soccer clinched the third place.
In a post-event statement on Friday, the Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General, HE Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buenain, has lauded the Games high technical level and people’s big turnout to the third QOC Beach Games 2023 held at Katara Cultural Village.
“ We are truly happy to see a new success being made in this edition , we still benefiting from logistic and organizational legacy that we have from incredible 2019 ANOC World Beach Games we hosted in Doha” confirmed H.E Secretary General.
“ There a group of plans are underway to increase society participation rate in these games and meet QOC’s vision and objectives”. Added H.E QOC Secretary General.
Draw held for Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification Tournament
Lausanne: The groups for the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification Tournament - to be played across Brazil, China, and Japan from 30 September to 8 October 2023 - were confirmed at a Drawing of Lots ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Olympic champions France drew world champions Italy in their group for the men's FIVB Road to Paris Olympic Volleyball Qualifier at the Drawing of Lots ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Friday (17 March).
The men’s Olympic Qualification Tournament (OQT) comprises of three pools of eight teams, and will take place from 30 September to 8 October 2023 in Brazil, China, and Japan.
Twelve teams will compete for the gold medal at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, including automatic qualifiers and hosts France.
The top two finishers in each pool for the qualifier will earn one of six automatic qualification berths for Paris 2024, and the five remaining qualification spots will be filled by the top five nations not yet qualified in the FIVB World Rankings at the end of the preliminary phase of the Volleyball Nations League 2024.
Pool A (in Brazil) - Brazil, Italy, Iran, Cuba, Ukraine, Germany, Czechia, Qatar
Group B (in Japan) - Japan, USA, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkiye, Tunisia, Egypt, Finland
Group C (in China) - People's Republic of China, Poland, Argentina, Netherlands, Canada, Mexico, Belgium, Bulgaria

In women's beach football event held on Wednesday, Bahrain’s Super Soccer team defeated B Soccer 10-0, Al Rayyan team got better of Challenge team of Saudi Arabia 12-2, while king team beat B Soccer 10-3.
In the women's beach volleyball event, Edge Fitness outclassed Sports lab 2-0, QVA team defeated Qatar University 2-0 and F45 team defeated Edge Fitness 2-0.
In women’s beach basketball event, Sports Lab team beat Back Raven team 10-3 , Veterans outclassed Edge Fitness 11-3 and Sports Lab (1) defeated Sports Lab (2) 9-7 in group A game.
Qatar beat Iran to reach semis
Bali: Five-time champions Qatar yesterday defeated the title-holders Iran 23-18, 23-20 in a thrilling contest to book a place in the semi-finals of the 9th Asian Beach Handball Championships in Bali, Indonesia.
Qatar, unbeaten in the Championship so far, having beaten Saudi Arabia 2-0 (26-17, 24-17), Philippines 2-0 (17-14, 28-14) and South Korea 2-0 (23-17, 25-9) in their previous Group A matches, topped the table with eight points.
Qatar will take on Vietnam who finished second in Group B, in the semi-final tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in Group B, Oman topped the table with their fifth straight win in Bali to make it to the semi-finals. They will meet Group A runner-up Iran as they seek their sixth appearance in the title clash.
The tournament serves as a qualification tournament for the 2024 IHF Men’s Beach Handball World Championships.
Third QOC Beach Games in full swing
DOHA – The third edition competitions of Qatar Olympic Committee Beach Games 2023 have entered crucial moments on Tuesday as football and volleyball semi-finals were held at Cultural Village Katara.
In the men’s football semifinals, Green Owl team secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Lusail, while Al Jasra got better of Dukhan 6-5 in a free scoring game. Accordingly, the final football scene is expected to see a mouth-watering game between Green Owl and Al Jasra at the Cultural Village Katara on Friday.
At another court, F45 team defeated Al Dafna 2-0 in the men’s volleyball semi-finals, while Policy Sports Federation overcame Edge Fitness 2-0 to set a showdown with Police Sports Federation in the closing scene on Friday.
In U-18 basketball event , Shooters team defeated OG 11-7, Garbia got better of Qatar Tigers 9-3, Chosen One team got passed OG 15-2 and Garbia defeated Shooters 10-3 in group one.

Karate event concludes at third QOC Beach Games 2023
DOHA – The karate event for both boys & girls has reached the finishing line on Monday at the ongoing third edition competitions of the Qatar Olympic Committee Beach Games 2023 taking place at Cultural Village Katara.
In the over 16 karate final (girls) held on Monday, Salma Abdulrahman claimed the first place overall, as Waad Sukaria seized the runner-up place and Nada Al Yazidi finished in the third place.
In the men’s Karate final, Mohammed Younis won the first place ahead of Said Mostafa Amar who finished in second place and Karam Jood snatched the third place.
In the men’s 3x3 beach basketball, Salah eddin Sakour claimed the first place, as Adham Hashem Abdulnaser won the second place and the third place went to Abdulhameed Shaoash.
In effort to build up a better sport future for high education institutions, Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) has encouraged students on Monday to be an integral part of the sport activities held in the frame of the third QOC Beach Games at the Cultural Village Katara.
With sportsmanship and power of will , a group of students from Qatar University (QU), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) participated in Health & Fitness Program, Beach Football and Beach Basketball.
