Qatar Olympic committee attends OCA General Assembly Meetings
Dubai- The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) attended the 40th General Assembly Meetings of the Olympic Council of Asia, which started in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Sunday with participation of 45 Asian NOCs.
H.E Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (West Asia), and H.E Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buenain, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (2030 Doha Asian Games), attended the general assembly. The Qatar Olympic Committee was represented by Mr. Khaleel Al Jaber, Director of Sport Affairs and Sheikha Asma Al Thani, Director of Marketing and Communications.
During the meeting, Al-Buenain delivered a detailed presentation on Qatar’s ongoing logistics, organizational and technical preparations to host an exceptional Doha Asian Games in 2030.
The IOC and OCA during the general assembly appreciated the fruitful initiative of State of Qatar and the QOC to facilitate the meeting held between the IOC and the Afghan sports representatives in Doha. Moreover, the OCA applauded QOC for its unparalleled success in hosting the inaugural edition of the ANOC World Beach Games 2019.
The General Assembly agenda highlighted the stability of the Olympic movement in Asia and meeting heard updates from the next four hosts of the OCA’s showpiece event, the Asian Games: Hangzhou 2022, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, Doha 2030 and Riyadh 2034.
The meetings also discussed the progress reports from the organisers of two other multi-sport games in 2022: the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi next March and the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Shantou, China in December 2022.
One year to go until FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
DOHA- H.E. President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani attended today the launching ceremony of the one-year countdown clock to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy and FIFA have revealed the official countdown clock at Doha Corniche.
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will begin on November 21 next year at Al Bayt Stadium which will host its first official match between Qatar and Bahrain at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 later this month.
HH the Amir witnesses part of 2021 Qatar Padel World Championship final
Doha- (QNA) - HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani witnessed part of the final of the 2021 Qatar Padel World Championship, which was hosted by the Qatar Tennis, Squash, and Badminton Federation at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
His Highness attended part of the final match of the championship between Spain and Argentina.
The championship final was attended by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani, a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, ministers, senior officials and a large audience of padel fans, amid precautionary measures to limit the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). (QNA)
Spain wins World Padel Championship
Doha: With attendance of H.E. President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, 2021 Qatar ooredoo World Padel Championship was concluded at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex on Saturday.
Spain defeated Argentina 2-0 in the final match of Men's event to claim the title while Brazil took the third place after beating France in the third-place match.
Spain also claimed the title of women's event after beating Argentina in the final match while Italy finished third.
H.E. ooredoo’s Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani, HE President of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation and President of the International Padel Federation Luigi Carraro crowned the winning teams.
Team Qatar claimed the 16th place after meeting USA in their last match on Saturday.
Team Qatar Player Mohamed Saadoun Al Kuwari thanked the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation for their support to team Qatar during the Asia- Africa Qualifications and during the 2021 World Championship.
Joaan bin Hamad attends Semifinals of World Padel Championship
Doha: H.E. President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the semifinals of the 2021 Qatar Ooredoo World Padel Championship, being organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation from November 15-20.
In women's semifinals, Argentina defeated Italy 3-0 while Spain edged past France 3-0.
In men's event, Argentina is taking on Brazil while France is facing Spain.
The final day competitions will bring together a huge number of fans as Padel has become the fastest growing sport in the region and the world.
Joaan bin Hamad meets Kazakhstan NOC President
Doha: H.E. President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani has met today with H.E. President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan Timur Kulibayev, who is currently visiting Doha to attend 2021 Formula 1 Ooredoo Qatar Grand Prix.
Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mana, the President of Qatar’s Weightlifting and Fencing Federation, and the Asian Weightlifting Federation also attended the meeting.
