Asian Shooting Championship kicks off
DOHA, November 5, 2019 – The competitions of the 14th edition of Asian Shooting Championship 2019 got underway at the Losail Shooting Range in Doha on Monday.HE Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, First Vice - President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Mr. Duaij Al- Otaibi, Secretary-General of Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) and Mr. Ali Mohammed Al Kawari, President of Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation attended the event's opening ceremony.A total of 38 Olympic quota places will be up for grabs in the continental tournament in Qatar organised by Qatar Shooting and Archery Association. The top three finishers in each of the shotgun, rifle and pistol events of the tournament will gain quota places or outright qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.London Olympics bronze medallist Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah and Rashid Saleh Al Athba will lead Qatar's challenge at the 14th Asian Shooting Championships.In the men's Double Trap event, Hamad al Akhan al-Marri, who won gold in September at the 9th Asian Shotgun Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, will aim for an encore. Another trap shooter Mohamed Ahmed al-Rumaihi, who received a shot in the arm with his bronze medal at Austria Open in August at Vienna meet, will be keen to prove a point or two at the Asian event.The championship is bringing together 1000 shooters from 32 countries including 135 shooters from the hosts nation who will compete in different classes from 4-14 November at Losail Shooting Range.
Draw held for Asian Men's Handball Championship 2020
Kuwait, November 03, 2019- The draw of the 2020 Asian Men's Handball Championship was held in Kuwait on Saturday. The event will be held in Kuwait from January 16-27, 2020 and will serve a qualification tournament for 2021 World Men's Handball Championship to be held in Egypt. Team Qatar were drawn in Group (B) alongside Japan and China. The tournament will also feature the participation of Bahrain, Iran New Zealand (Group A), South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Australia (Group C), Kuwait, UAE, Hong Kong and Iraq (Group D). The four top teams in this edition of Asian Men's Handball Championship will qualify to the 2021 World Championship.
Nasser, Rashid to lead Qatar’s Challenge at Asian Shooting in Losail

Qatar team win two gold medals at Arab Judo Championship
AMMAN, Jordan, November 4, 2019 - Team Qatar confidently clinched two gold medals on Sunday at the prestigious Arab Judo Championship 2019, which taking place in Jordanian's capital of Amman.Qatari duo, Waleed Aziz Hanafi and Nasser Al Ansi confidently won the gold medal in the Nage-no-Kata class, while their teammate Saleha Al Badi went on the same track of victory to win the Women's under 52kg gold.The championship is bringing together 14 Arab countries, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco and hosts Jordan.
Sheikh Joaan Honors Team Qatar Athletes
Doha, November 04, 2019- (QNA) - HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani honored Team Qatar Athletes who claimed 34 medals (9 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals) at GCC Women's Games.HE QOC First Vice President Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al-Thani, HE QOC Second Vice President Dr. Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, and HE QOC Secretary General Jassim Rashid Al Buenain , President of Qatar Women's Sports Committee (QWSC) Lolwa Al Marri, Directors of Departments and staff of QOC attended the honoring ceremony.HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani congratulated the Qatari athletes on the achievements, adding that the results achieved confirm that the Qatari girl deserves to represent the Qatari sport in various international forums. HE QOC President added that these achievements also reflect the evolution of women's sports thanks to the support of the wise leadership and the efforts of QWSC and sports federations.HE QOC President affirmed QOC support to women's sport as part of its plan to support all sectors and categories.HE Sheikh Joaan thanked the members of the administrative and technical bodies and all the players for the great effort to raise the name of Qatar high in the GCC tournament.HE QOC President urged the athletes to redouble efforts in the coming phase to further improve the level of Qatari women's sport and achieve more achievements in the forthcoming entitlements, most notably the Olympic Games-Tokyo 2020. Qatar defeat Jordan to take fifth place in Arab Youth Handball Championships
Tunisia, November 04, 2019-The Qatari men's youth handball team defeated Jordan 28-11 on Sunday to take fifth place in the 10th Arab Championships in Tunisia.The event brought together 6 teams including; Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Morocco and hosts Tunisia.Qatar's Squad: Abdullah Khalifa Al Jassim, Abdullah Mubarak Al Sulaiti, Abdullah Ali Al Dosari, Ali Hamad Al Suwaidi, Abdulrahman Jabor, Yazan Emad, Osama Hamdan, Badr Khamis Al Shemali, Thenyan Khalifa, Khalis Saeed Al Qassem, Saad Ismail, Adel Al Safadi, Jassim Mohammad Al Danhim, Mubarak Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Deyaldin Al Zawadi.
