Sheikh Joaan Meets Presidents of NOCs

Doha, October 18 (QNA) - HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, met yesterday with HE the President of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Susanne Lyons.HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al -Thani also met with HE Vice-President of the Belarusian Olympic Committee Dr. Viktor Lukashenko, on the sidelines of the 24th General Assembly of the Association of the National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Doha.His Excellency also met with HE President of the Algerian Olympic Committee Mustapha Berraf, and HE President of the Spanish Olympic Committee Alejandro Blanco.After the evening session of the ANOC meetings, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani met with HE President of the Dominican Olympic Committee Luis Mrjia.The meetings reviewed aspects of sports cooperation and ways to boost and develop them in the coming stage.During the meetings, the Heads of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) praised the State of Qatar's organization of the World Beach Games held in Doha from 11 to 16 October, which was followed by the 24th General Assembly of the Association of the National Olympic Committees (ANOC), which concluded in Doha yesterday with the participation of 204 committees. ANOC General Assembly begins

DOHA, October 18, 2019-The 24th General Assembly of the Association of the National Olympic Committees (ANOC) began in the presence of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani and International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach at the Sheraton Hotel in Doha yesterday. The assembly, which was opened by the acting ANOC Acting President Robin Mitchell, also saw HE the Assistant Chief of the Amiri Diwan and former QOC secretary-general Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani receiving an ANOC Order of Merit award. Representatives of 205 National Olympic Committees (NOC) and 1,000 high-level officials will get together at the two-day meeting, which will conclude today. Mitchel, in his opening remarks, thanked the State of Qatar and the QOC for their warm hospitality and excellent hosting of the ANOC World Beach Games, and the General Assembly.

Sheikh Joaan Meets President of the Greek Olympic Committee

Doha, October 18, 2019-(QNA) - HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, met today with HE President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Spyros Capralos, on the sidelines of the 24th ANOC Executive Council meeting in Doha.During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of joint sports cooperation and ways to support and develop them.The meeting was attended by HE Second Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, and HE QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain. QOC Signs MoUs with A Number of National Olympic Committees

Doha, October 18, 2019-(QNA) - Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with a number of National Olympic Committees, on the sidelines of the ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019.QOC Signed separate MoUs with the National Olympic committees of Austria, Japan and Hungary.The MoUs were signed by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani and the heads of the national Olympic committees of Austria, Japan and Hungary.In a related context, A joint cooperation agreement was signed between the QOC and the Kuwait Olympic Committee with the Aspire Sports Academy.The signing ceremony was attended by HE President of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser Al-Sabah and President of Aspire Sports Academy Eng. HE Sheikh Joaan Receives ANOC Award for Contribution to Olympic Movement

Doha, October 18, 2019-QNA) - HE the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani has received the award for Contribution to the Olympic Movement from the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).The award was received during a ceremony held for the ANOC Awards 2019 at the Katara Cultural Village on Thursday evening. During the ceremony, best award winners were also honored.HE Sheikh Joaan thanked the ANOC and dedicated this award to the QOC great team for their great efforts.His Excellency also thanked the employees of the QOC for their perseverance and professional performance. 'We are proud of our cadres who are working with dedication and passion for Qatar', His Excellency said while appreciating their efforts.Earlier in the day, HE Sheikh Joaan had also received the ANOC Merit Award which was granted for the QOC.The ANOC awarded the ANOC Merit Award for the QOC in recognition of its role in supporting the Olympic Movement and organizing numerous sporting events with unrivaled success. Team Qatar finish fourth in handball tournament at ANOC World Beach Games

DOHA, October 17 , 2019 – Qatar beach handball team claimed the fourth, following their 2-1 defeat from Sweden in the clash of third and fourth places at ANOC Word Beach Games Qatar 2019 on Wednesday.The home side displayed impressive performance in the first half, but dramatically suffered setback in the second half , where their opponents Sweden were the dominant side.In a post-match press release on Wednesday, Mr. Khalifa Taiseer, Assistant Secretary General of Qatar Handball Federation appreciated the team performance and success to won the fourth place in such a big international sport event.It is worth mentioning that, Brazil team won the gold medal after defeating rivals Spain 2-1 in the final match.
