GCC Women's Games to begin in Kuwait on Sunday
KUWAIT, October 20, 2019 – The competitions of the prestigious sixth edition of GCC Women's Games 2019 will get underway in Kuwait on Sunday.The ten day – games will bring together six GCC nations who will compete in 11 games.The opening day will see the GCC teams competing in three games, Basketball, handball and fencing. Team Qatar will begin campaign against Bahrain on Sunday in the basketball event.Team Qatar delegation to the games is chaired by Lolwa Al-Marri, President of Qatar Women's Sport Committee , accompanied by 132 athletes, administrators and technical staff members.
Team Qatar defeat India to reach semifinals
Doha, October 20, 2019- Team Qatar qualified to the semifinals of Asian Men's Handball Qualification Tournament for Tokyo Olympics after beating India 40-10 at Al Duhail Arena on Saturday. The victory brought Team Qatar's tally of points to 4 to secure their spot in the semifinals. Valero Rivera-coached Qatar will take on Saudi Arabia in their third match on Monday.The tournament sees eight teams competing for a single ticket to the Tokyo Games. The participating teams have been divided into two groupsTeam Qatar were drawn in Group A alongside Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and India while the second group includes Bahrain, South Korea, Iran, and Kuwait.While the champions of the tournament will receive a direct qualification for Olympics, the second-placed team will have to compete in the play-offs next April. It is the second time in a row that Qatar is hosting the Asian Men's Handball Qualifiers for the Olympic Games.

Team Qatar win bronze medal at GCC Women's Games
KUWAIT, October 21, 2019 – Qatar's women fencing team confidently clinched the bronze medal in the opening of prestigious sixth edition of GCC Women's Games 2019 which got underway in Kuwait on Sunday.Team Qatar opened the campaign with a bronze medal in the foil class (individual) secured by fencer Ameera Abo Jobara, while her teammate, Lina Al Boainin reached the last eight stage.On the same track of victory, Team Qatar defeated Bahraini counterparts 74-64 in the basketball event on Sunday.Qatari duo , Duha and Zikryat Rashid Al Abdullah alongside sisters Sara and Haya Fadi Diyab are due to compete in the Epee and Sabre classes on Monday. QOC Padel Tournament concludes
Doha, October 21, 2019- The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) organized the first edition of its Padel Tournament from October 18-20, 2019 with participation of 96 players.The QOC Secretary General HE Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain honored the winners. The medal ceremony was attended by Director of the QOC Sport Affairs Department Mr. Khalil Al Jaber and Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation Mr. Tariq Zainal.Director of the QOC Sport Affairs Department Mr. Khalil Al Jaber thanked the officials of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation for efforts to promote Padel in the state of Qatar and stressed that the inaugural edition of the QOC Padel Tournament proved a huge success as it brought together more than 96 players.Head of the QOC Activities and Program Support Unit Mr. Abdulaziz Ghanim said that the QOC organized the inaugural Padel Tournament in lights of its efforts to increase community engagement in sport and entertainment activities.Padel is a four players game with the essence of tennis, when looking at the court and the elements of squash such as the walls.Players are enclosed in an area measuring 10 by 20 metres with transparent walls and wire mesh fencing in places.
QOC Signs Two MoUs with Tunisian and Cameroonian Counterparts
Doha, October 19, 2019- (QNA) - The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) signed Friday a memorandum of understanding with the Tunisian Olympic Committee to further promote bilateral relations and consolidate joint sports cooperation and exchange of experiences.HE the President of the QOC Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Tunisian Olympic Committee Mehrez Boussayene attended the signing of the agreement.The QOC also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cameroon Olympic Committee. The agreement was signed by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Cameroon Olympic Committee Colonel Kalkaba Malboum. (QNA)
