Qatar Goalball Team return to a warm welcome
DOHA, September 23, 2019-Qatar's goalball team were accorded a warm reception on their arrival in Doha on Sunday after winning the gold medal at the 2019 West Asian Para Games held in Amman, Jordan from September 15-22.In the final match held on Saturday, Qatar defeated Iraq 9-7.Moreover, Qatar's Sarah Masoud claimed the gold medal of women's Shot Put event while Abdulrahman Abdulqader took the silver medal of men's Shot Put event and the bronze medal of men's Javelin Throw.HE Mr. Jassim bin Rashed Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Mr. Hamad Lahdan Al Mohannadi, Director of the QOC Support Services Sector, Mr. Khaleel Ibrahim Al Jabir, Director of the QOC Sport Affairs Department, Dr. Hassan Al Ansari Secretary General of the Qatar Paralympic Committee received the delegation at Hamad International Airport.The games brought together 7000 athletes from 12 nations including; Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Yemen, UAE, Bahrain and hosts Jordan.
Qatar, Yemen play to draw in Asian Qualifiers
DOHA, September 21, 2019-The Qatari U16 football team shared a 1-1 draw equal points with Yemen in Group E of the AFC U-16 Championship 2020 Qualifiers on Friday. Qatar had the advantage of playing at home but Yemen, confidence boosted by their 10-1 win over Bhutan in their opener, were not overawed by their opponents.A tight first half ended goalless but Qatar eventually opened the scoring with Mohammed Salem Al Quraishi converting a penalty in the 58th minute.Yemen's determination, however, was rewarded in the 77th minute when Hasan Mohammed Al Kwamani fired home the equaliser.Neither side was able to conjure a winning goal, setting the stage for an exciting climax on Sunday.
Team Qatar qualify to AVC Men's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament
Tehran, September 21, 2019-The Qatari volleyball team occupied the ninth place in the 2019 Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship and qualified to AVC Men's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament after beating Kazakhstan 3-0 on Friday. The other teams which also reached AVC Men's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament, to be held in Jiangmen, China from January 7 to 12, 2020, are Iran, Australia, Chinese Taipei, India, Korea, Pakistan and China. Qatar squad: Mubarak Dahi, Ahmed Jamal, Ibrahim Saeed, Bilal Abunbout, Othman Abdel Wahed, Nader Abu Bakr, Mahmoud Essam, Renan, Khaled Shamia, Mahdi Badreddine, Milos, Sultan Abdullah, Sami Mahmoud, Suleiman Saeed, Naji Mahmoud.
Team Qatar to participate in ASC Shotgun Asian Championships
DOHA, September 20, 2019 – Qatar's shooting team delegation left Doha on Thursday to Kazakhstan to participate in the 9th ASC Shotgun Asian Championships 2019 will take place from 20-30 September in Kazakhstan's capital of Al Maty.The team delegation is chaired by Mr. Ali Saieed Al Manae alongside shooters, Saieed Abo Shareb, Rashid Al Ezbah, Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Mohammed Khajeem, Masood Al Ezbah, Rashid Al Ezbah, Hamad Al Marri, Abdulaziz Al Attiyiah, Masood Saleh, Rashid Saleh, Ibraheem Al Tamimi, Noora Al Ali, Khlood Khalaf, Reem Al Sharshani, Noora Al Mohannadi, Fatima Al Moraikhi, Ghalia Al Malki and Amna Al Sherawi.ASC Shotgun Asian Championships 2019 is a qualifying tournament to 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Qatar defeat Indonesia in Asian Volleyball Championship
TEHRAN, September 20, 2019 – Qatar's volleyball team made impressive 3-0 victory over Indonesian opponents (25-24, 25-17 , 25-17) in 2019 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship in Tehran, Iran on Thursday.Tuesday's victory has qualified Qatar team to fight for the nine place in a crucial game on Friday.The event is a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian volleyball governing body, the Asian Volleyball Federation (AVC). The tournament is being held from Sept. 13 to 21.Top eight teams of this tournament will qualify for the 2020 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament, which will be held in Jiangmen, China from 7 to 12 January 2020, where the winners will qualify to the 2020 men's Olympic volleyball tournament.
