Doha set to host FINA /CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2020
Doha, February 4, 2020-The Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) will organize the first meet of the FINA /CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2020, which will feature the participation of world's best long-distance swimmers on February 15.It will be the third consecutive year when the elite-level 10km men and women races will be held in the Qatari capital, which is also home to multiple FINA Swimming World Cups and the 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships.The QSA, with the hosting of the spectacular swimming events, is preparing to deliver the successful 2023 FINA World Aquatics Championships.On this occasion, the QSA President Khaleel Al Jaber said, “The FINA Marathon Swim World Series is another major event which the QSA is organizing on annual basis as we are getting ready to stage the World Aquatics Championships in 2023,"
SOP Committee set to organise Paralympic Day
DOHA, February 4 , 2020 – The Organizing Committee of the 13th edition of the School Olympic Program (SOP) will organize the Paralympic Day for children with special needs (Boys) and (Girls) at Suhaim bin Hamad stadium of Qatar Sport Club on Tuesday and Wednesday on row.The one-day event, which will be jointly organised by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the Organizing Committee of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP), will offer the students an opportunity to take part in various sporting events.A widespread participation from concerned authorities, including Al Shafallah Center, Qatar Paralympics Committee alongside a group of schools is expected in this event.The SOP is held annually as a collaborative effort of to encourage hundreds of students athletes competing from all over Qatar.The SOP Committee aims to spread a culture of sports through Qatar's schools and to engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
SOP football competitions continue at Aspire Academy playgrounds
DOHA, February 3 , 2020 – Students from age category 11 to 12 years have displayed impressive football skills in the competitions of Schools Olympic Program (SOP) took place at Aspire Academy playgrounds on Sunday.In the group A, Umm Al Qura school defeated Muaither school 5-2, while Al Qadisiyah school outclassed Al Ekhlas school 2-0. Umm Al Qura lead the group with 9 points tally.In group B, Jabir ibn Hayyan lead the group with 9 points, following their three consecutive victories against Abdullah bin Rawahah, Abdullah bin Jassim and Simaisma schools.While Kamal Nagi school led group C after collected 5 points, they beat Umm Said school 3-1 and were held to a goalless draw against Al Dhakhira school.In the group D, Al Zubair bin Awam school defeated Saad bin Muaz 2-0 and beat Ahmed bin Rashid Al Muraikhi 3-0 to lead the group.The SOP is held annually as a collaborative effort of to encourage hundreds of students athletes competing from all over Qatar.The SOP Committee aims to spread a culture of sports through Qatar's schools and to engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
Al Adaam prepare for Tokyo Olympic Table Tennis Qualifiers
DOHA, February 03, 2020 – Qatar's table tennis team will hold a training camp from 7-18 February in Germany in preparation for West Asian's Tokyo Olympic Table Tennis qualification scheduled from 23-27 February in Jordan.Team Qatar's players Ahmed Khalil and Mohammed Abdulwahab are keen to conduct a perfect training camp in Germany in effort to reach good results in the qualification that will help them booking spots places in Tokyo Olympics.
Team Qatar win two medals in West Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship
Riyadh, February 02, 2020- Qatar junior table tennis team claimed two medals in West Asian Championship concluded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday. The championship was organized by the West Asian Table Tennis Federation in cooperation with the International Table Tennis Federation with participation of 60 players. Qatar's Sultan Al Kuwari clinched the gold medal of boys under 12 years event while Ali Al Taher of Saudi Arabia finished second. Moreover, Khalid Al Yafei claimed the silver medal of boys under 15 years event. Ebaid Zaza of Syria took the gold medal.
Students sparkle in SOP Football Competitions
Doha, January 31, 2020– The football competitions for boys' preparatory schools at the 13th edition of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) were resumed on Thursday at Aspire Academy of Sport Excellence. In the first group, Khalid bin Ahmed School defeated Usama bin Zaid School 2-1 to lead the group while Al Emam Al Shafei School edged past Abi Ubaida School and Rawdat Rashed School to take the first place in the second group. Ibn Khaldoun School trounced Dukhan School to lead the fourth group while the Religious Institute shared the leadership of fifth group with Al Yarmok School and Mohammed bin Jassim School. The SOP Committee aims to promote a culture of sport at Qatar's schools and to engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
