Qatar Claims Gold at Arab Aquatics Championships in Morocco

Casablanca – Qatar’s Ali Sayed captured the gold medal in the 50m butterfly (general category) at the 4th Arab Aquatics Championships for Age Groups, currently underway in the Kingdom of Morocco and running through September 1.Sayed clocked a time of 24.11 seconds to secure Qatar’s first gold medal of the tournament.The championship brings together athletes from 19 Arab nations and includes competitions in swimming, water polo, and open water swimming.

Qatar Athletics Team Secure 9 Medals at Arab Junior Championships in Tunisia

DOHA – Qatar’s athletics team concluded their campaign at the 11th Arab Junior Championships in Tunisia with an impressive haul of nine medals: four gold, two silver, and three bronze. The championship, which wrapped up on Thursday, featured athletes from 15 participating countries.Qatar’s gold medals were claimed by Saleh Mahmoud in the shot put, Younis Al Balushi in the pole vault, Mubarak Saeed in the 1,500m, and Abdul Razzaq Idris in the 400m hurdles.Silver medals went to Timo Juma in the 100m and Abdullah Al Abdullah in the pole vault, while the bronze medals were earned by Hussein Mohammed in the 110m hurdles, Saleh Mahmoud in the discus throw, and Timo Juma in the 200m.The Qatari delegation included a talented group of track and field athletes: Samer Hussein (1,500m), Timo Juma (100m and 200m), Idris Abkar and Hussein Mohammed (110m hurdles), Abdul Razzaq Idris and Abkar Idris (400m hurdles), Mubarak Saeed (1,500m), Abdullah Al Abdullah and Younis Al Balushi (pole vault), and Saleh Mahmoud (shot put and discus throw).

Qatar Olympic Committee Honors Participants of Inaugural Team Qatar Summer Program 2025

DOHA  – The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), through its Sports Events Department, hosted a special ceremony on Wednesday  to honor the participants of the first edition of the Team Qatar Summer Program 2025. The event was attended by senior QOC officials, representatives of national federations, and parents.The ceremony was graced by Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, Director of Sports Sector  at the QOC, Sheikh Ahmed bin Nooh Al Thani, Secretary-General of the Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation, and Mr. Jassem Shaheen Al Sulaiti, Secretary-General of the Qatar Shooting & Archery Federation, along with several QOC directors and officials.The celebration marked the resounding success of the inaugural program, which ran from 6 to 16 July and was dedicated to boys and girls aged 8 to 12, all children of QOC employees.A total of 48 children (25 boys and 23 girls) took part in a wide range of sports, recreational, and educational activities designed to strengthen personal skills, promote Olympic values, and instill the spirit of sportsmanship.Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani emphasized that the success of the program reflects the QOC’s vision of fostering a culture of community sport. He said: “We are proud to celebrate the participants of the first Team Qatar Summer Program, which provided a valuable platform for talent discovery and development. This initiative reflects our commitment to launching unique programs that prepare an aware and skilled generation capable of carrying forward Qatar’s proud sporting legacy.”Parents expressed their gratitude to the QOC for this innovative initiative, which combined education and entertainment while enriching their children’s summer break in a positive and inspiring atmosphere. Two Years to Go to Qatar 2027

Doha, Qatar | Today marks two years to go to the start of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 in Qatar. The most prestigious Basketball tournament in the world will begin with the opening game on 27 August 2027 and will conclude with the final at Lusail Multipurpose Hall, in Lusail on 12 September 2027.On this occasion of this milestone the Local Organizing Committee confirms the four World Cup venues that will host the 92 games. The four venues are Lusail Multipurpose Hall, Duhail Sports Hall, Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena, Al Janoub, they will be renamed to Lusail Arena, Duhail Arena, Al Attiyah Arena and Al Janoub Arena respectively -just for the tournament- to ensure homogeneity.It will be the first time in the history of the Basketball World Cup that games will be played in a Football World Cup Stadium. Al Janoub will be converted to a Basketball Arena with its capacity exceeding the 8.000 spectators’ seats, honoring Qatar’s dedication to sustainability and continuing its legacy, connecting the two great sporting events.FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Director General, President of Qatar Basketball Federation and Member of the FIBA Foundation, Mohammed Saad Al-Meghaiseeb said: “Two years ago, Qatar won the bid to host the Fiba Basketball World Cup in 2027. Team Qatar to take on Kuwait in AGCFF U-20 Gulf Cup Showdown

Abha (Saudi Arabia - Qatar will face Kuwait on Thursday at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City in Abha, Saudi Arabia, as part of the AGCFF U-20 Gulf Cup, which will take place from Aug. 28 until Sep. 9.Spanish coach Emanuel Infante Mesquita stressed in the pre-match press conference that the tournament is vital for gaining experience and marks the first step for this generation of Qatari players.He noted that the team's recent intensive preparations brought them to the required level of readiness, while praising the efforts of the tournament organizers and the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF).Qatar will be facing Yemen on Aug. 31 at Damac Club Stadium, before concluding its group matches against Saudi Arabia on Sep. 3 at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City.The semifinals of the AGCFF U-20 Gulf Cup will take place on September 7, while the competition will conclude on Sep. 10.The participating teams were drawn into two groups: Group A includes Qatar, host Saudi Arabia, and Yemen; Group B consists of Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Egypt, which joined by invitation after the UAE withdrew from the competition.  

Team Qatar Athletics to begin Intensive Training Camp in Japan for World Championships

DOHA  - The Qatar Athletics Federation announced Wednesday that it will organize a training camp for the national team in Narita, Japan.The choice of the city is to allow the team's athletes to acclimatize to the conditions surrounding the World Championships in Tokyo next September.The team includes a group of track and field athletes and coaching staff in preparation for the World Championships scheduled for Tokyo.The Qatar Athletics Federation said in a statement on its official social media accounts that the participants in the camp are all qualified for the World Championships, and some athletes will join them if they obtain the qualifying numbers.The Federation is focusing on qualifying the largest number of athletes to participate in the championships, with the aim of continuing the achievements of Qatari athletics in world championships.A large number of runners appear to have the opportunity to qualify for the championships by participating in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF)-approved meetings held in several European cities before the start of the World Championships.Runner Abdelrahman Samba is the most prominent qualifier for the World Championship, alongside Ammar Ismail, Bassem Hemeida, Ashraf Othman, and Hatem Hamid.
