Qatar Cricket Team gets better of Kenya in 2025 ICC Men's World Cup Challenge League

London  - Qatar national cricket team secured a narrow victory over Kenya, winning 243-242 in their match at the 2025 ICC Men's World Cup Challenge League, currently being held in Jersey, UK. The tournament runs until August 31 and features numerous teams from around the world.The match saw standout performances from several Qatari players, notably Imal Liyanag, who scored 107 runs off 136 balls, becoming the first player to reach this milestone in the tournament.This performance highlights the advancing level of Qatar cricket team on the international stage, reflecting ongoing efforts to achieve further success in the future.Qatar had lost its opening match of the tournament to Kuwait, with a score of 277-299.The team is set to face Denmark on Wednesday, followed by a match against Papua New Guinea on Saturday, as part of the ongoing competition.  

QFA Announces Squad for Gulf Youth Cup in Saudi Arabia

DOHA  - The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced the squad for the Gulf Youth Cup (U-20), which will be hosted by Abha, Saudi Arabia, from August 28 to September 9.The Qatari national team coach Emmanuel Infante called up a 23-player squad including Naim Al Maghni, Ali Boumediene, Christian Saric, Ahmed Al Sayed, Ahmed Nasser, Iran Kothuru, Emmanuel Francis, Bilal Mohammed, Jadon Joseph, Khaled Al Shuaibi, Khalid Hossam, Radhi Mohammed, Richard Sham, Asim Ahmed, Oloum Mohammed, Abdulaziz Al Mutawa, Omar Ali, Qais Al Rawi, Calvin Masangi, Mohammed Jihad, Mohammed Moatasem, Moamen Mohammed, and Youssef Hani.The draw placed the Qatari national team in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Yemen. Group B includes Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Egypt, which is participating as a wildcard after the UAE withdrew.The Qatari national team, which head to Abha on Tuesday, will begin tournament campaign against Kuwait on Thursday at Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium, before facing Yemen on August 31 at Damac Stadium. They will then conclude their campaign against Saudi Arabia on September 3 at Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium.  

Qatar Wins Gold Medal in Arab Junior Athletics Championships

Tunis - Qatari athlete Saleh Mahmoud clinched the gold medal in the shot put event at the 11th Arab Junior Athletics Championships, currently taking place in the Tunisian capital and running through August 27. The championship features athletes from 15 Arab nations.Mahmoud won first place and the gold medal in the competition, setting a new personal best with a throw of 17.85m.This gold medal is the first for the Qatari team, which is represented by ten athletes competing across multiple events: Samer Hussein in the 1500m race, Timo Jumaa in the 100m and 200m races, Idris Abkar and Hussein Mohammed in the 110m hurdles, Abdulrazzaq Idris and Abkar Idris in the 400m hurdles, Mubarak Saeed in the 1500m race, Abdullah Al Abdullah and Younes Al Baloushi in the pole vault, and Saleh Mahmoud in the shot put and discus throw.The Qatari team is aiming for winning many medals and competing for first place in the championship.  

Qatar’s 3x3 Basketball Teams Travel to Hungary for fourth U21 Nations League stop

DOHA – Qatar’s national 3x3 basketball teams, comprising both men’s and women’s squads, have departed for Debrecen, Hungary, to participate in the fourth stop of the U21 Nations League “Europe,” scheduled from August 26 to 28, 2025. The tournament will feature some of Europe’s top youth teams, promising intense competition.Led by Captain Yassin Ismail, Director of National 3x3 Basketball Teams, the men’s team includes Mohammed Hashem, Sultan Abu Issa, Bassam Hajar, and Essa Al-Attar. The women’s team consists of Sara Al-Muadeed, Deema Al-Jassim, Dana Suleiman, and Fatima Jamal Abdullah, under the guidance of Coach Marco, who oversees both teams.The tournament will see six teams compete: France, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, and Qatar. With closely matched skill levels, the event is expected to be highly competitive as teams vie to boost their rankings.The men’s team will kick off their campaign on August 26, facing Romania and the Czech Republic in Group B matches. Having competed in three prior stops, the men’s team secured sixth place in the first, fifth in the second, and a remarkable second place in the third, earning 175 points. They currently hold second place in the overall standings with 648.881 points, trailing France (1,002.620 points), followed by the Czech Republic (536.950), Ukraine (510.606), Hungary (427.345), and Romania (408.897).The women’s team will begin their tournament on August 26 against Ukraine, followed by a match against France. Having earned 45 points across three previous stops, they enter the fourth stop with 95.794 points, ranking sixth. The Czech Republic leads the women’s standings with 343.467 points, followed by Ukraine (332.157), France (316.872), Hungary (202.482), and Romania (159.865).Captain Yassin Ismail emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “Our participation in Debrecen aligns with a clear strategy to build a strong foundation of young players who represent the future of Qatari basketball. Draw for 2025 Gulf Cup U-17 held

DOHA - The stage is set for the 2025 Gulf Cup U-17, the official draw foe which was conducted virtually on Wednesday by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) in Doha.Qatar, as hosts of this year’s tournament taking place from September 20 to October 2, will lead Group A, joined by the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Yemen.Group B will be spearheaded by Iraq, who were also seeded in the top tier, alongside Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait.The eight participating teams were divided into four seeding levels according to their global rankings.Qatar and Iraq were placed in Level 1, followed by UAE and Saudi Arabia in Level 2, Bahrain and Oman in Level 3, and Kuwait and Yemen in Level 4.This edition of the Gulf Cup U-17 is expected to showcase high-calibre competition as the region’s top youth squads gear up for future continental and international challenges.The event plays a key developmental role in nurturing Gulf’s emerging football talent and strengthening inter-Gulf cooperation in youth sports under a shared vision of footballing excellence.
